Matchday 1 of the Champions League always offers so much promise but this time around there aren't as many standout ties as we'd have liked.
Barcelona v Bayern Munich obviously catches the eye but without Lionel Messi in their ranks the Barca have lost their allure and may need to get used to life in the slow lane at this level. That's reflected in the fact that Bayern are clear favourites at 21/20 with SBK to win in the Nou Camp.
The German champions have been rattling in the goals, 24 in their last four matches, and Robert Lewandowski has been relentless. It's 4/7 that Julian Nagelsmann's men score two or more and just 1/2 at Bet365 that Lewandowski nets – a ridiculous price!
Elsewhere there's a trio of teams at short enough prices; Man Utd 4/11, Chelsea 2/11, Juventus 9/20 all at Bet365. That will be a popular treble, which pays a best price 8/5 at SBK.
Cristiano Ronaldo is also 1/2 at Bet365 to net against Young Boys and given his record in the competition (134 goals in 176 Champions League appearance) it's hard to argue too much with that. However, like at the weekend, SBK are much more generous when it comes to the striker finding the net, going a much more backable 4/5.
Romelu Lukaku completes the goalscorer treble. The Belgian striker looks like the final piece in Thomas Tuchel's jigsaw and the defending champions should have a comfortable night at home to Zenit.

West Brom host a Derby side that have probably started the season a lot better than some people were expecting. Yes they’ve only won once, but 3 draws and 2 losses are hardly a catastrophe especially with the troubles they had going into this season. However, Derby’s two losses have come away from home out of only 3 away games and in both of those losses they conceded 2 goals. They come up against an unbeaten West Brom side who have scored at least twice in 4 of their 6 games so far. West Brom do leave spaces at the back but they’ve scored 13 goals compared to Derby’s 4. I was tempted to go for West Brom on a -1 handicap but Derby have managed to keep games competitive this season so will go safer with the straight win.
On paper Juventus should be avoided tonight. They’ve got just 1 point from their first 3 games and no longer have Ronaldo to bail them out with late goals. However, Malmo aren’t the greatest side to be honest and have only won 1 of their last 5 games domestically themselves. Looking at the odds, I would argue Young Boys have a lot more quality than Malmo and United are just 1/3 to get the away win. Therefore, I don’t think the odds on juve look too bad even with their early season struggles. Juventus are in desperate need of a positive result and I think they will get it here.

Hull scored 4 goals on the opening day of the season but they haven’t managed one single goal in their 5 games since then. They followed up an opening day win with 3 defeats on the bounce although they’ve managed two 0-0 draws in their last two outings. Both teams have found the net in every Blackburn game so far so no doubt Hull will look at this as a good opportunity to hit the net again finally. Blackburn will see this as an opportunity of their own though to finally keep a clean sheet. I have to back the team that’s scoring regularly and has home advantage.
As a Hull fan it must be noted Blackburn are a bit of a bogey team for us too! On a positive note, our star player (Wilks) is back from injury so we should hit the net sooner rather than later I hope haha! If I had to choose outright I’d definitely be agreeing with Invincibles tip, me personally I just think there’s better fixtures tonight to place my money.
