England vs Spain (Saturday, 19:45)
The standout fixture from the opening round of Nations League matches comes from Wembley Stadium on Saturday night as England square off with Spain.
After falling at the semi-final stage of this year’s World Cup, the Three Lions will be looking to hit the ground running against the team that went on to lift the trophy.
England did bounce back from the disappointment of their semi-final defeat to Argentina by recording a barnstorming 6-4 win over France in the third-place play-off.
While this Wembley clash is unlikely to produce the same type of shootout, each team to oblige could certainly be worth considering.
Indeed, both teams to score landed in six of England’s eight matches at the World Cup.
While Spain’s triumph was largely built on a solid defensive foundation, they did concede in their quarter-final victory over Belgium and could face a tough time silencing a star-studded England side.
Czechia v Croatia (Saturday, 19:45)
Goals could flow at the Fortuna Arena when Czechia host Croatia in their Nations League opener on Saturday night.
It would be fair to say that neither nation set the heather on fire at the World Cup earlier this year, so both will be keen to make a winning start in Prague.
The Czechs failed to progress beyond the group stage, while Croatia only managed to go one better before crashing out in the round of 32.
However, goals at both ends were a common feature of both teams' matches at this summer's showpiece.
BTTS landed in two of the Czechs’ three outings and three of Croatia’s four.
Looking further back, the same selection has now clicked in eight of Croatia’s last 10 matches, further strengthening the case for both teams finding the net in the Czech capital.
Norway vs Portugal (Sunday, 19:45)
Norway and Portugal both made winning starts to their Nations League campaigns on Thursday, and another lively contest could be on the cards when they collide at the Ullevaal Stadion on Sunday night.
Stale Solbakken’s side edged out Denmark in a thrilling 3-2 contest, with my recommended Bet Builder and player-based selections both landing along the way.
Portugal were made to work harder for their opening victory as they ground out a 1-0 win over Wales.
Their trip to Oslo could produce a much more open affair, with both teams having scored in each of Norway’s last nine matches across all competitions.
Prior to Thursday’s shutout against Wales, BTTS had also landed in four of Portugal’s previous seven outings, including a draw with DR Congo and a 2-1 World Cup victory over Croatia.
With Norway regularly scoring and conceding and Portugal carrying plenty of attacking threat, BTTS is the call in the Norwegian capital.
