Two clubs under pressure in the Premier League meet at Old Trafford on Saturday Night Football as Manchester United plays host to bottom side Tottenham Hotspur.
Manchester United just about avoided heading into the prolonged international break off the back of successive defeats, as Matheus Cunha’s late deflected strike salvaged a point at the Cottage against winless Fulham.
That was just the fifth point the Red Devils have collected in the Premier League this season (W1-D2-L2), with their solitary victory coming at home to newly-promoted Ipswich Town on MD2.
Whilst it’s been a poor start for Michael Carrick’s hosts, it’s been an even worse one for Tottenham, as they currently sit at the foot of the Premier League table after picking up just two points across their opening five matches.
Despite finally scoring their first goals of the campaign last time out, Spurs suffered a 2-3 defeat at home to Aston Villa – on an afternoon two of my three selections landed.
How the bookies view it: United favourites
Despite winning just once in the Premier League so far this season, Manchester United are 7/10 favourites at bet365 to secure all three points.
Spurs are 15/4 to claim their first win of the campaign, whilst the draw is 3/1.
Head to head: Spurs with the recent edge
Tottenham have lost only one of their previous nine meetings with Manchester United, including beating them in the 2024/25 Europa League final.
However, the Red Devils rescued a late point in a thrilling 2-2 draw in North London last season, before winning the reverse fixture 2-0 at Old Trafford in February.
Players to watch: More Mbeumo magic against Spurs?
Bryan Mbeumo has already got two goals to his name in the Premier League this season, as well as an assist in their 4-0 rout of Sabah FK in the Champions League.
The Cameroonian also got on the scoresheet in both meetings with Spurs last season, and the ex-Brentford man is an appealing 10/11 at bet365 to Score or Assist at Old Trafford on Saturday.

Predicted line-ups:
Manchester United will miss the injured Manuel Ugarte and Patrick Dorgu, while Matthijs de Ligt, Noussair Marraoui, and Benjamin Sesko are all doubts.
Spurs will miss injured Wilson Odobert, Xavi Simons, Pedro Porro, Mykhailo Mudryk, and the ineligible Richarlison, while Jan Paul van Hecke is a doubt.
Manchester United: Lammens, Dalot, Maguire, Martinez, Shaw, Mainoo, Tielemans, Mbeumo, Fernandes, Rashford, Cunha
Tottenham Hotspur: Kinsky, Gray, Senesi, van de Ven, Robertson, Tonali, Bentancur, Savio, Fernandes, Marmoush, Solanke
Anything else catch the eye?
Manchester United are rightly favourites for this clash, but given how inconsistent they have been, I’m keen to swerve the match result and back goals.
The Red Devils have failed to keep a clean sheet in any of their six matches against Premier League opposition in league and cup this term – shipping 11 goals – and should give Spurs hope going forward after getting the monkey off their back by scoring twice at home to Villa last time out.
However, United have the firepower to breach a vulnerable Spurs backline, making the 4/5 on offer at bet365 for Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 Goals stand out.
