Sunderland have swapped League One for the Europa League inside five years and the Stadium of Light will be rocking when they take on AZ Alkmaar tonight.
You have to go back all the way to season 1973/74 for the last time the Black Cats played in Europe so it will be an historic night.
But Dutch side Alkmaar will be looking to be party poopers in the North East and have heaps more experience of European competition.
Sunderland vs AZ Alkmaar top betting tips
Premier League sides have dominated the Europa and Conference Leagues in recent seasons so it's not a big surprise to see Sunderland as favourites tonight, although their price of 13/20 looks a bit too short.
AZ Alkmaar are 15/4 outsiders but their form has been superb this season, with six wins and a draw in their first seven outings.
That run included a 4-0 demolition of champions PSV in the Dutch Super Cup so this is far from a gimme for the Black Cats.
The atmosphere will be red-hot though and I'm expecting Sunderland to start the game strongly with the crowd behind them.
Backing Regis Le Bris' men to win the first half appeals at 11/10 while over four first-half corners also looks a good option at evens with Bet365
Manchester United vs Brighton and Hove Albion
Manchester United suffered derby disappointment on Sunday and will be looking to get back on track when Brighton come calling in the EFL Cup tonight.
Losing against your local rivals is always painful but the fact City played with 10 men for most of the game and their winner came from a hugely controversial call added to the agony.
The Red Devils have now won just two of their five games this season and the optimism that came from last term's strong finish has been washed away.
The EFL Cup is pretty low on their list of priorities but Michael Carrick might pick a strong side tonight as he needs a morale-boosting win.
Bet365 make Manchester United 4/5 favourites for a win inside 90 minutes but adding on over 1.5 goals boosts the odds to 20/21.
Benjamin Sesko could get the nod to start up front as United seeks a cutting edge and the Slovenian is 11/10 for anytime scorer at Bet365.
Coventry City vs Aston Villa
Coventry City and Aston Villa have both made dreadful starts to the season but one of them will get a morale-boosting win when they collide in the EFL Cup tonight.
Frank Lampard's men have yet to score a goal since winning promotion to the Premier League and Saturday's 5-0 loss at home to Brighton made it four defeats in a row.
Villa have also yet to win a domestic game in the new campaign, although they did beat Club Brugge 3-2 away from home in their Champions League opener.
That victory in Belgium makes me think Unai Emery's men should edge it tonight and Villa are a tempting 6/5 for a win inside 90 minutes.
Big summer signing Johan Manzambi might finally be unleashed from the start after a debut off the bench at the weekend.
The Swiss international is 7/5 to score or assist and that looks good if he starts because Manzambi impressed at the World Cup.
