Wednesday’s football tips: Go for a shots double at 109/100 as Marseille bid to upset Liverpool

It's another big night in the UEFA Champions League and the pick of the games sees Liverpool head to the Velodrome to take on Marseille.

This is a big game for both teams as the Reds chase a place in the last 16 and Marseille seek the win that should guarantee a place in the knockout stages.

The French side have already beaten Newcastle on home soil but face a tougher task against a Reds side who are unbeaten in their last 12 games.

Marseille vs Liverpool top betting tips

Arne Slot's men have recovered from the slump that saw them lose nine times in 12 games but they're still not back to their best.

Their last four Premier League games have ended in draws and even struggling Burnley emerged from Anfield with a point on Saturday.

The Reds are still favourites at 19/20 with most firms but a Marseille side who have scored 16 times in their last three games will fancy their chances.

The French side are 6/5 to win either half at 888Sport but it's probably safer going for some player bets.

I'm going to combine shots on target for Marseille's Mason Greenwood and Liverpool striker Hugo Ekitike, a bet that pays 109/100 at Bet365.

The crowd will have Roberto De Zerbi's players fired up so backing Marseille for most cards also appeals at 21/20 with Betway.

Newcastle United vs PSV Eindhoven

The atmosphere will also be red-hot at St James' Park as Newcastle look to secure their slot in the knockout stages with a win over PSV Eindhoven.

Eddie Howe's side have looked a bit leggy of late and they followed up a defeat by Manchester City in the EFL Cup semi-final by drawing away to Wolves.

But the crowd will give them an adrenalin boost for this game and they are hot favourites at a best 10/21 with Ladbrokes for a win.

PSV have blown hot and cold in the Champions League but they're in excellent form, winning 10 of their last 11 in all competitions.

We should see goals at both ends but combining BTTS and over 2.5 goals only pays 4/5 at Coral. Over 1.5 first-half strikes offers more value at evens with Coral.

Gus Til has netted 13 times for PSV this term so could offer a bit of value at 11/5 with Paddy Power for a goal or assist tonight.

Chelsea vs Pafos

Chelsea are another team who can book a place in the knockout round with a home win and it would be a surprise if they slipped up against Cypriot side Pafos.

Most people expected Pafos to be whipping boys at Europe's top table but they've performed pretty well and have lost just two of their six games so far.

Taking something from Stamford Bridge still looks like a tall order, although the Blues are still having teething troubles with new boss Liam Rosenior.

Chelsea are 1/6 hot favourites but a win to nil is much better at 37/40 with BetVictor, given Pafos have failed to score in their three away games in the league phase.

Rosenior could make a few changes amid a busy fixture schedule and striker Liam Delap looks worth a punt at 7/5 with BetMGM for a goal.
