Goals were in short supply in the Football League on Tuesday. Only nine games of 28 across the three divisions saw Over 2.5 goals scored and exactly half saw Both Teams Score, making it a tough night for punters.

Portsmouth scored early to land the 4/5 Super Single and another match that didn't disappoint was the German Super Cup which was by Bayern Munich who laid down a marker by beating Borussia Dortmund 3-1. SlipsTips help himself to yet another winner thanks to the cards and corners in the match.

On Wednesday all eyes will be on Celtic Park as the Hoops look to take a first leg lead in their tie with AZ Alkmaar. Ange Postecoglou's side look envigorated after a slow start to the season that saw them exit the Champions League to Midtjylland and suffer defeat in their opening league match at Hearts.

But they've subsequently won four on the bounce, scoring 16 goals in the process and generally looking a completely different team. AZ will test their new found mettle although the Dutch side are going through some troubles of their own currently.

Four key player from the squad that secured 3rd place in last season's Eredivise have departed including top scorer Myron Boadu. Club captain Teun Koopmeiners traveled with the squad despite missing out on AZ's opening day defeat to Waalwijk amid speculation he too is on the verge of departing.

It all points to a great opportunity for the Bhoys to steal a march in this tie and 13/10 on the home win looks pretty generous. Postecoglou has his team on it from the very first whistle with a high energy press and an almost frantic desire to get the ball forward so a Celtic lead at half-time also appeals at 15/8 and that has landed in their last four.

Elsewhere in Europe there's a belter of a tie between two former European Champions when PSV Eindhoven visit Benfica. Tolu is in the hotseat for us for that one and he thinks there could be goals in Lisbon.

There's a handful of matches in the Championship on Wednesday night too. Middlesbrough and QPR put their unbeaten starts to the season on the line at the Riverside. Rangers will have been pleased with their start to the campaign and impressed in their 3-0 win at Hull City on Saturday. Boro were exposed in last midweek's defeat at Blackpool in the EFL Cup but they bounced back to win at the weekend. Both teams look reasonably well matched so BTTS could be the play here at 5/6.

The night's live match comes from The Hawthorns where promotion hopefuls West Brom and Sheffield United clash. A lack of goals still looks to be blunting the Blades who've failed to score in their first two league matches and managed just one against League Two Carlisle. Finding the net hasn't been an issue for the Baggies though, who have scored five in two so far, which makes the 21/20 on the home win appealling.

Luton a goal short last night.

    Hull v Derby

The Tigers made an impressive return to the Championship thumping Preston 4-1 on the opening day. QPR brought them back down to earth winning 3-0 at the weekend. Although no shame losing to any side with Rob Dickie at the back. Lewis-Potter looks a good talent and could make the difference in this one.

Derby were 1-0 up but managed to throw it away to lose 2-1 in injury time to Peterborough on Saturday. In that game Derby also lost Kazim-Richards to injury, which with a thin squad means Stretton is likely to make a league debut upfront. It looks bleak for the rams who have had to turn to short team deals for Jagielka and Baldock. Both could feature tonight having been training with Derby throughout the summer.

I see Hull getting back on track here with a comfortable win. They’ve got Fulham and Bournemouth back to back so they need to make the most of playing a bottom side.

    Hull to score 2+ 1/1

There’s a fairly appealing South American card this evening but I just can’t help my thoughts drifting towards a little bit of NILF action!

    CLIFTONVILLE VS. DERRY CITY (7.45pm)

The stats speak for themselves here as rock-bottom Derry travel to Cliftonville with the very real prospect of a good hiding.

The hostesses with the mostesses will go top with a win and, having hit 6, 4 and 6 against Derry in the last 3 meetings, I’m siding with a solid win with a fair few goals thrown in for good measure:

    OVER 6.5 GOALS

No joy with a red card last night.pretty sure this new protocol on refs been more lenient is going to affect punters and i bet bookies don’t drop their lines on the cards markets.

    1
    • kyle b 3 years ago

I’ll be keeping an eye on it closely as it is one of my fave markets. referees are being further encouraged to let the game flow but the problem is players are committing blatant, cynical fouls and the man in the middle is often not acknowledging the incident and booking anyone. None of the Champions League nor the Europa League game came close to hitting there card line last night.

    • maccathered 3 years ago

Frustrating as hell mate,a game at the weekend where it was a blatant yellow but instead of booking the player he called over the captain to have a word.Certainly a market i will be leaving alone from now on.

    • maccathered 3 years ago

Also the penalty markets in the EPL.

    • kyle b 3 years ago

Your on about Tanganga aren’t you 😂 where Lloris got called over to have a word like he was making his first ever senior appearance and Lloris didn’t say a thing to him! 🤦🏻‍♂️

Even worse over in Italian & Spanish Leagues when teams spring a counter attack, players get wrestled to the ground, Referee just throws his arms out to signal advantage, continues to waddle forward and just ignores the incident altogether like it never happened lol

      1
    • maccathered 3 years ago

Yeah Tanganga what a joke that was from the ref lol, might be better going under the lines set if that’s the refereeing were going to get.On the other hand it’s good to see free flowing football (when the refs not calling over the Captain).

Anyway tonight Celtic new boy kyogo furuhashi is on a hot streak scoring 5 goals in his last 4 apps. Evening gents,

A fair bit to look through in South America and I’ve largely left the big tournaments aoine thus far but really like the look of the Copa Libertadores tie later on…

    FLAMENGO VS. OLIMPIA ASUNCION
    (11.15pm)

Fair to say that the Brasilians head into this in fine fettle; on a great run of domestic form and hitting this 2nd leg tie with a 4-1 advantage after knocking the stuffing out of Paraguay’s finest last week.

Conversely, Olimpia are currently licking their wounds on both a continental and domestic level having put together 3 successive defeats including the aforementioned 4-1 and a 3-0 battering at the hands of Cerro.

But, they did score in that first leg and have got bugger all to lose whereas Flamegno look likely to rest a few and will almost certainly have half a mind on their league campaign.

    Here’s what I’m on:

    BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE

    BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE
