Liverpool have a mountain to climb as they host Paris Saint-Germain at Anfield on Tuesday night for the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final.
The Reds return from the French capital trailing 2-0, leaving them with plenty to do if they’re to turn the tie around against a star-studded PSG side.
Liverpool have been priced up as 11/8 favourites by the bookmakers to win inside 90 minutes, but instead, I’m going to put forward a three-legged Bet Builder.
Over 0 PSG Goals
I’m going to get this Bet Builder underway by backing PSG to score at least once. While Luis Enrique’s side head into the second leg in a relatively comfortable position, they’re unlikely to take their foot off the gas. If anything, the visitors should be a major threat on the counter, with Liverpool expected to throw caution to the wind in their bid to get back into the tie. What's more, PSG have also been the competition’s most potent attacking force this season, racking up 36 goals and scoring at least twice in nine of their 13 outings.
That doesn’t bode well for a Liverpool side that conceded twice in victory over Atletico Madrid during the league phase, and were put to the sword by PSV Eindhoven in a 4-1l defeat at Anfield back in December.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia 2+ Shots
For the first of two player-based selections involving the same player, I’m backing Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to attempt two or more shots. The PSG forward is enjoying a real purple patch in front of goal, netting five times across his last four Champions League appearances, including a strike in last week’s 2-0 win over Liverpool.
Notably, Kvaratskhelia pulled the trigger no fewer than seven times in that first-leg clash, taking his shots-per-game average in the competition to a hefty 4.43 this season. Crucially for this selection, the PSG ace has registered at least two attempts in each of his last seven continental outings.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia To Commit 1+ Foul
While the aforementioned Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is best known for his threat in the final-third, he’s also a tireless worker who isn’t afraid to roll up his sleeves and do the dirty work when required. That’s reflected in an average of 1.25 fouls per game in the Champions League this season.
A closer look shows that figure has been trending upwards in recent months, with Kvaratskhelia committing a foul in each of his last four Champions League outings. The 25-year-old gave away multiple free-kicks against Liverpool last week, with the same also true away at Chelsea last month.
With Liverpool likely to take the game to PSG for obvious reasons on Tuesday night, the Georgian winger should be asked to do plenty of defensive work, making him an appealing option to commit at least one foul.
Taken together, these selections combine to form a 10/11 shot that looks to offer solid value, particularly given it landed in last week’s first leg.
