Liverpool face an uphill task to salvage their Champions League campaign when they host Paris Saint-Germain in the second leg of their quarter-final tie on Tuesday night.
The Reds were comfortably beaten 2-0 in the French capital last midweek, on a night where both of my selections landed.
Since then, Arne Slot’s side have responded with a morale-boosting 2-0 win over Fulham in the Premier League.
That victory saw Liverpool tighten their grip on 5th place in the top-flight standings, and they will be hoping that result can act as a springboard as they look to overturn a two-goal deficit on Tuesday night.
As for PSG, they travel to Anfield looking to finish the job and take another step towards retaining their Champions League crown.
Luis Enrique’s side should arrive fresh, having been granted the weekend off by the French FA after their top-of-the-table clash with Lens was postponed.
How the bookies view it: Reds to rebound
Liverpool are firmly in must-win territory on Tuesday night, and the pre-match odds suggest they can at least taste victory inside 90 minutes, with a home win priced up at 11/8 with bet365.
A draw would be enough to send PSG through to the semi-finals, and that outcome is available at 7/2 with bet365, while an away win is trading at 6/4 with the same bookmaker.
Head-to-head: History against the hosts
Last week’s first leg was just the seventh meeting between the two sides in European competition. PSG now edge the head-to-head with four wins to Liverpool’s three following their 2-0 victory – and a repeat of that scoreline on Tuesday night is on offer at a whopping 16/1 on bet365.
Players to watch: Kvaratskhelia to KO Liverpool?
I successfully backed Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in the to score or assist market last week, and I'm more than happy to revisit the same selection on Tuesday night at even-money (1/1) on PaddyPower.
Florian Wirtz has registered a combined total of three shots on target across his last two Champions League appearances at Anfield, making the 4/5 (William Hill) on the German ace to deliever at least one on-target effort worthy of support.
Predicted line-ups
As was the case last midweek, Liverpool will once again be without Alisson, Conor Bradley, Giovanni Leoni and Wataru Endo through injury. On top of that, Curtis Jones will also be absent at Anfield on Tuesday night after picking up an injury in Saturday’s 2-0 win over Fulham.
PSG were without Bradley Barcola and Fabian Ruiz last week due to injury, though the former looks the more likely to come back into contention at Anfield on Tuesday night.
Liverpool: Mamardashvili; Szoboszlai, Konate, Van Dijk, Kerkez; Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Wirtz, Ngumoha; Ekitike
PSG: Safonov; Hakimi, Marquinhos, Pacho, Mendes; Zaire-Emery, Vitinha, Neves; Doue, Dembele, Kvaratskhelia
Anything else catch the eye?
PSG are unlikely to rest on their laurels when they head to Anfield for Tuesday night's second leg.
That was evident in the previous round against Chelsea, as they followed up a 5-2 first-leg win with a 3-0 victory at Stamford Bridge.
With that in mind, the star-studded visitors look good value to score at least two goals here at 10/11 on PaddyPower.
