A new era begins for France on Friday night as Zinedine Zidane takes charge for the first time in their Nations League trip to Turkey.
Zidane replaced Didier Deschamps after Les Bleus’ World Cup campaign ended with a semi-final defeat to Spain.
As for Turkey, they have stuck with Vincenzo Montella, despite the Crescent Stars failing to make it out of their group at this summer's showpiece.
Kylian Mbappe or Michael Olise To Score
For the first half of the bet builder double, I’m backing either Kylian Mbappe or Michael Olise to score.
France have a front line packed with world-class talent, and Mbappe was in magnificent form at the World Cup. The French ace scored 10 goals in eight appearances, including four braces, taking his record for Les Bleus to 66 goals in 106 caps.
While Olise failed to score at the World Cup, he was at the heart of France’s attacking play, providing seven assists in eight appearances. The classy playmaker also comes into this clash fresh from a hat-trick for Bayern Munich against Union Berlin last weekend.
France are more than capable of scoring multiple goals against Turkey on Friday night, and I would be surprised if neither Mbappe nor Olise got on the scoresheet.
Michael Olise To Be Fouled 2+ Times
The second and final leg of the bet builder double also centres on Michael Olise, who I’m backing to be fouled at least twice. The French star was by far his country’s most fouled player at the World Cup, drawing 16 fouls across his eight appearances. He was brought down on multiple occasions in five of those matches.
Olise has long been a foul magnet for Bayern Munich, and that has continued in the early weeks of this season. He has been fouled seven times across his last two Bundesliga starts, while Bodo/Glimt brought him down five times in the Champions League.
Olise should come in for close attention from Turkey midfielder Ismail Yuksek, who averaged two fouls committed per game during World Cup qualifying. That adds further weight to Olise being fouled at least twice on Friday night.
