Inter Milan begin their campaign in Group D of the UEFA Champions League with a trip to Anoeta to face Real Sociedad. Wednesday’s clash is likely to be a closely fought one but Inter boast plenty of experience at this level and should have the upper hand here.
Real Sociedad are making a return to the Champions League after 10 years away from Europe's top competition. They have had some experience in continental competitions in that time and played in the Europa League last season, securing smooth progress to the round of 16.
The Spanish side will be looking to at least match that feat at the elite level and will fancy their chances of making progress in Group D. However, Imanol Alguacil’s men have not been in good form at the start of the season, claiming just one win in their opening five La Liga matches.
Real Sociedad head into Wednesday’s Group D opener off the back of a 2-1 home defeat to Real Madrid in a La Liga fixture last weekend. They took an early lead through Ander Barrenextea but could not hold on and were pegged back by the visitors.
Inter Milan come into this campaign seeking their first UEFA Champions League title since 2010 and fourth overall. Having lost in the final of last season’s competition, they will be looking to go one better this time around.
The Nerazzurri have a fine record in the early stages of the Champions League and often progress into the knockout phase. Competing against the likes of Real Sociedad, Benfica and RB Salzburg, manager Simone Inzaghi will fancy his team’s chances of winning Group D.
Inter Milan will travel to Anoeta with plenty of confidence having made a superb start to the season. They have won all four of their Serie A matches so far and are coming off an impressive 5-1 victory over AC Milan in their previous fixture last weekend.

Players to watch
While Real Sociedad have not been particularly impressive this season, attackers Takefusa Kubo and Ander Barrenextea have caught the eye, scoring three goals each so far. A goal for Kubo is priced at 4/1 by Unibet, who is also offering odds of 9/2 on Barrenextea in the same market.
Lautaro Martinez appears to be forming a solid attacking partnership with Marcus Thuram for Inter Milan with both men scoring a combined seven goals so far.
