Nottingham Forest vs Tottenham Hotspur

, KO: 15:00 , City Ground
Tottenham Hotspur

Spurs will look to claim their first points in the Premier League this season as they travel to the City Ground to take on Nottingham Forest on Saturday afternoon.

After back-to-back 17th-placed finishes, Spurs fans would’ve hoped their side would have got off to a positive start this campaign given the money they have spent in the transfer window.

However, Roberto De Zerbi’s team began the campaign with a dismal 3-0 defeat away at London rivals Brentford, before suffering a disappointing 0-2 defeat at home to Newcastle United, leaving them propping up the Premier League table.

Like their visitors, Nottingham Forest began their Premier League season with a defeat, as a late Anton Stach free-kick secured a rare Leeds United victory at the City Ground.

However, unlike Spurs, Oliver Glasner’s side bounced back, as they secured a 2-2 draw at Anfield against Liverpool – in a game they led the Reds twice.

How the bookies view it: Forest favourites

Nottingham Forest are favourites to build on their draw at Anfield last weekend, with bet365 pricing the Tricky Trees at 7/5 to get their first three points of the season.

Spurs are 19/10 to claim their first league victory of the campaign, whilst the draw is 12/5.

Head to head: Four wins on the spin for Forest

Nottingham Forest have done the double over Spurs in the last two seasons, winning home and away against the North London club last season 3-0.

Players to watch: More magic from Morgan?

Morgan Gibbs-White has been in sensational form this calendar year, with the Englishman scoring 15 goals and providing five assists in all competitions – with 13 of those goals coming in the Premier League.

That includes a goal and an assist at Anfield last weekend, and the 6/5 on offer at bet365 for the ex-Wolves man to claim another goal involvement at the City Ground on Saturday appears to be good value.

Predicted line-ups:

Nottingham Forest appear to be at near full-strength, with only defender Nicola Savona missing.

Spurs will be without the injured Wilson Odobert, Xavi Simons and Dejan Kulusevski, whilst James Maddison and Savio are doubts.

Nottingham Forest: Sels, Cunha, Milenkovic, Murillo, Munoz, Schlager, McAtee, Williams, Ndoye, Gibbs-White, Jesus

Tottenham Hotspur: Kinsky, Gray, van Hecke, van de Ven, Robertson, Tonali, Bentancur, Porro, Fernandes, Kudus, Marmoush

Anything else catch the eye?

Spurs have endured a dismal start to the campaign, losing each of their opening two Premier League matches without scoring – conceding five goals in the process.

Whilst I do think Spurs will start putting some points on the table, I’m keen to oppose them against a Forest side they have lost four on the bounce to and who looked impressive in their draw at Anfield last weekend.

Oliver Glasner’s hosts are 7/5 to Win, but I’m happy to take the 21/20 at bet365 on the -0.25 Asian Handicap, meaning we only lose half our stake should the game end in a draw.
