Celtic vs Aberdeen

, KO: 19:45 , Celtic Park
Aberdeen

Celtic's Champions League collapse continues to cast a dark cloud over Parkhead but the Hoops will be out to continue their perfect start in the SPFL Premiership when Aberdeen come calling.

Blowing a 4-0 aggregate lead away to LASK, on a night when all three bets landed for me, will haunt the Hoops for a long time after they missed out on a £40million Euro jackpot once again.

But Martin O'Neill's men responded with a 2-1 win over Falkirk on Saturday and haven't put a foot wrong so far back on domestic duty.

The fixtures have been pretty kind for Celtic in the league so far though, with games against Dundee, Kilmarnock and the Bairns.

This clash with the Dons kicks off a tougher run of matches and Stephen Robinson's men head south for Glasgow looking to get back on track in the league.

They started with a comeback win over Hearts but have since lost to Dundee and Rangers to drop down the table.

Sunday's Pittodrie 1-0 loss to the Ibrox side was one of the worst games of football I've ever seen and Aberdeen will need a vastly improved display to take something from Parkhead.

How the bookies view it: More domestic bliss for Celts

With Celtic winning all their domestic games so far, it's no surprise to see them as Bet365's 1/4 favourites. Aberdeen are 8/1 outsiders and even the draw is pretty big at 5/1.

Recent head to head: Hoops on a roll

Aberdeen had a terrible campaign last season and lost all three meetings with Celtic as they finished in the bottom half of the Premiership. It's now 34 games without defeat for the Hoops in this fixture.

Players to watch: Duran on song

Camilo Duran looks to be the pick of Celtic's summer signings and a double against Falkirk took his tally for the season to five. The Colombian is just 8/11 for another goal here but backing him to score first boots his price to 10/3.

Kevin Nisbet has taken the armband at Aberdeen and the skipper has chipped in with nine goals already. He has only netted once in the Premiership though and is 3/1 to add to that tally.

Probable line-ups

Kieran Tierney picked up a knock against Falkirk and looks set to join Kasper Hogh and Alistair Johnston on the sidelines for Celtic. Skipper Callum McGregor could return from illness after sitting it out on Saturday.

Brad Lyons, Ante Palaversa, Emmanuel Gyamfi and Kristers Tobers missed out for Aberdeen once more against Rangers and are unlikely to feature against Celtic.

Celtic: Sinisalo, Donovan, Carter-Vickers, Trusty, Scales, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Baur, Nygren, Hassan, Yang, Duran.

Aberdeen: Muller, Mayo, Guinness-Walker, Happe, Cadden, Ntelo, Ronan, Aremu, Yogane, Nisbet, Olusanya.

Anything else catch the eye?

Dons boss Stephen Robinson caused problems for Celtic when he was in charge of St Mirren, most notably when the Buddies shocked the Hoops in last season's League Cup Final.

I was going to go for BTTS and over 2.5 goals at 21/20 with Bet365, with that bet landing for me in Celtic's game against Falkirk at the weekend.

But then I watched Aberdeen struggle to create chances against a poor Rangers side who gifted them the ball in dangerous areas and still kept a clean sheet. So I've changed my mind and fancy a Hoops win to nil instead at 6/5.

Duran's pace could cause a problem for Pittodrie stopper Dan Happe, who looks a bit cumbersome. The Englishman picked up his second yellow of the season against Rangers and is 13/8 for another card.

Corners are usually a good option with the Hoops and they've averaging over 10 at home this season. Aberdeen could also play for set-pieces so I like over 11.5 corners here at 10/11.
