Brighton & Hove Albion vs Leeds United

, KO: 15:00 , AMEX Stadium
Leeds United

Leeds United will look to preserve their unbeaten start to the Premier League season as they travel to the AMEX to take on Brighton on Saturday afternoon.

Brighton began their Premier League campaign with an emphatic 4-0 victory at home to Aston Villa, before sealing their place in the league phase of the Conference League after beating Norwegian side Tromso by the same scoreline four days later.

However, the Seagulls failed to extend their unbeaten start to the campaign, as they were on the wrong end of a seven-goal thriller in West London against Chelsea.

Leeds began their Premier League season by ending their City Ground hoodoo, as a late Anton Stach free kick secured their first league victory at Forest since the 1971/72 season.

Daniel Farke’s men required another late goal in their next outing, as last season’s top-scorer Dominic Calvert-Lewin equalised to rescue a point at home to Brentford.

How the bookies view it: Brighton favourites

Brighton are favourites to follow up their back-to-back 4-0 victories at home, with bet365 pricing the Seagulls at 19/20 to secure all three points.

Leeds are 29/10 to record consecutive away wins in the Premier League since April 2022, whilst the draw is 5/2.

Head to head: Home an advantage for the Seagulls

Brighton holds a strong Premier League record over Leeds United, with the Seagulls winning four and losing just one of their eight meetings in the English top flight (W4-D3-L1) – including wins in each of the last three at the AMEX.

Players to watch: More magic from Maxime?

Maxime De Cuyper has made a strong start to the new campaign, as he scored the second goal in both of Brighton’s 4-0 wins at home to Aston Villa and Tromso.

The Belgian also grabbed an assist in that second-leg rout over the Norwegians, and he can be backed at 11/8 at bet365 to Score or Assist on Saturday.

Predicted line-ups:

Brighton have a mounting injury list, which includes Kaoru Mitoma, Evan Ferguson, Yankuba Minteh, Jack Hinshelwood, Femi Azeez, whilst the likes of Mats Wieffer, Yasin Ayari and ex-Leeds attacker Georginio Ritter are doubts.

Leeds will travel to the AMEX without the injured Joe Rodon, whilst fellow defender Gabriel Gudmundsson is a doubt.

Brighton & Hove Albion: Verbruggen, Costinha, Vuskovic, Dunk, Kadioglu, Gross, Boscagli, Gomez, Yalcouye, De Cuyper, Kostoulas

Leeds United: Trafford, Elvedi, Bijol, Muharemovic, Bogle, Ampadu, Stach, Justin, Aaronson, Okafor, Calvert-Lewin

Anything else catch the eye?

As alluded to, Brighton were on the wrong end of a seven-goal thriller to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last weekend, but the Seagulls did thrash Aston Villa 4-0 at home on the opening day of the season.

Fabian Hurzeler’s hosts have now won four of their last five Premier League fixtures in front of their supporters – as well as each of their last three at home to Leeds – and I’m backing that trend to continue at 19/20 at bet365.

The Seagulls have scored 11 goals across their last three league and European fixtures – scoring 2+ goals on each occasion – and look value at 10/11 at bet365 to bag another brace.
