PSG will be looking to extend their unbeaten start to their title defence as they welcome Nice to the Parc des Princes for a Friday night Ligue 1 fixture. The visitors have been unconvincing so far this season and should find things difficult at the home of the champions.
PSG are one of five teams with an unbeaten record at the start of the season as they sit second on the standings, two points behind leaders Monaco. After an unconvincing start to their title defence, they appear to have found their rhythm in recent weeks, winning their last two matches.
The Parisians looked back to their old selves as they claimed a 4-1 victory at Lyon in their previous Ligue 1 fixture. They were already four goals up at halftime with Kylian Mbappe netting a brace while Achraf Hakimi and Marco Asensio were also on target.
PSG found things difficult at home towards the back end of last season as they claimed just one win in their final four Ligue 1 fixtures in front of their fans. However, Luis Enrique’s men appear to be setting that right already having claimed a 3-1 victory over Lens in their previous fixture at the Parc des Princes.
Nice are also maintaining an unbeaten record at the start of the season, although unlike PSG, they have claimed just one win in four matches. That win came in their previous fixture as they triumphed 2-0 over Strasbourg prior to the international break.
The international break probably came at the wrong time for Nice, who would have been looking to use that result as a springboard to build some momentum. However, manager Francesco Farioli will hold on to the fact that they are still unbeaten after facing the likes of Lille and Lyon.
A small problem for Nice is a slight vulnerability at the back having led in two of their matches this season only to be pegged back by their opponents. They are also a bit unconvincing on their travels having won just two of their last seven Ligue 1 away matches, stretching back to last season.
How the bookies view it
The bookies have installed PSG as overwhelming favourites with a home win priced 9/20 with bet365. An unlikely victory for Nice is valued at 11/2 by Paddy Power while a draw is set at odds of 19/5 with Unibet.
Head to head
PSG have a 26-13 advantage with 10 draws from 49 previous matches against Nice. The Parisians did the double over their rivals last season, claiming a 2-1 victory at the Parc des Princes before picking up a 2-0 win in the reverse fixture back in April.
Player to watch
By all indications, this will be Kylian Mbappe’s final season with PSG and the forward appears to be keen to go out in style having scored five goals in just three appearances so far. He was also on target in this fixture last season and is priced at 8/11 with bet365 to find the net.
Terem Moffi had a prolific campaign for Nice last season and will be keen to maintain that level this term. The Nigerian striker got off the mark last time out against Strasbourg and is priced at 16/5 by William Hill to find the net on Friday.
Anything else catch the eye?
PSG will be targeting another comfortable win after putting four past Lyon and could be backed in the -1 handicap market at 5/4 by BoyleSports. They have also scored in both halves in the last two meetings with Nice and Friday’s clash can be set for a similar pattern at 11/10 with bet365.
Kylian Mbappe has opened the scoring in two of the last three matches and can be tipped to grab the first goal at 13/5 with bet365.
