LUTON TOWN bust plenty of coupons last week by holding mighty Liverpool to a draw and the Hatters are now out to spring another shock as they bid to pile on the pain for Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Like most people, I thought the Anfield giants would have too much firepower for their hosts at Kenilworth Road last Sunday but I still managed to salvage something from that 1-1 draw by backing Luton shots on target.
Only an emotional late leveller by Luis Diaz stopped Rob Edwards' side from claiming a massive three points but the draw was still enough to take them above Bournemouth and out of the drop zone on goal difference.
Luton would happily settle for sitting 17th when the final standings are decided after being written off as relegation fodder before a ball was kicked. They will be rank outsiders once more at Old Trafford but Manchester United are no longer a team to be feared.
Erik ten Hag looked like a dead man walking heading into the last round of Premier League games after successive 3-0 losses to Manchester City and Newcastle in league and cup.
His side eased some of the pressure by grinding out a 1-0 win at Fulham, busting the coupon of our man Mark, and things looked to be on the up when they raced into a 2-0 lead against FC Copenhagen on Wednesday.
But Marcus Rashford's red card sparked a collapse that led to United losing 4-3 in a Champions League thriller as I cashed in by backing goals at both ends. That has left ten Hag's Champions League hopes hanging by a thread and he now desperately needs a result back on domestic duty.
Despite losing five times in the Premier League already this season, Manchester United are still just six points off the top four, mainly because they haven't drawn any of their 11 games. So if they can grab another victory against Luton Town it could give them a bit of momentum and restore some of the faith in Ten Hag.
How the bookies view it
Luton Town are as big as 9/1 for an Old Trafford win with Coral and even the draw is pretty hefty at 5/1 with BetMGM. Manchester United's best price is just 1/3 with Bet365.
Head to head
These sides have faced off just once since Luton Town were last in the top flight back in 1992. That was a League Cup tie three years ago and Manchester United claimed a 3-0 victory at Kenilworth Road. The Hatters have a terrible away record in this fixture, losing 18 in a row since winning 2-1 in the very first meeting back in 1897.
Players to watch
Captain Bruno Fernandes stepped up for Manchester United in their hour of need last weekend and looks their best bet for a goal here. The midfielder is 15/8 with Bet365 for anytime scorer.
Carlton Morris could upset Ten Hag's fragile defence with power and has three Premier League goals to his name already. He's 10/3 at Paddy Power to add to that tally at Old Trafford. The striker is also a tempting 5/4 at Unibet just to have a shot on target.
Anything else catch the eye?
Luton Town have drawn a blank in just three of their Premier League games so it could pay to back BTTS here, although the odds aren't great at a best 19/20 with VBet.
Backing Edwards' men for over 2.5 shots on target paid off for me last week and the same bet appeals once more here, paying evens at Unibet. We could see a few corners as well and Bet365 price over five first-half corners at 6/5.
Backing Luton skipper Tom Lockyer for a card paid off for me in their loss at Chelsea and he was also booked in the defeat by Tottenham. That suggests he could be worth a punt for a card on another big stage at 23/5 with Unibet.
