England have a squad capable of going all the way at the 2026 World Cup and it will be interesting to see what kind of shape they're in when they take on Croatia in their Group L opener tonight.
Thomas Tuchel was brought in to help the Three Lions clear that final hurdle after two runner-up finishes at the Euros under Gareth Southgate.
Expectations haven't been this high heading into a World Cup since Sven-Goran Eriksson's time at the helm but taking on the Croatians is a tricky opening fixture.
England vs Croatia top betting tips
Croatia beat England in the 2018 semi-final and also blazed a trail to the last four in Qatar before being outclassed by Argentina.
But the likes of Luka Modric and Ivan Perisic are now well past their peak and the next generation of talent doesn't seem to have the same star quality.
England are a stronger team now than in 2018 so it's not a big surprise to see them as odds-on favourites tonight at 8/11. I'm going to combine a win for the Three Lions with under 3.5 goals in a bet builder that pays 5/4 at Bet365.
No striker heads into this World Cup in better form than Harry Kane, with the Bayern Munich star netting 67 times for club and country this season.
I thought he would be odds-on for anytime scorer based on those numbers but he's 13/10 at Bet365 and that looks excellent value.
Portugal vs DR Congo
The early World Cup game tonight comes in Group K as Portugal look to avoid a shock against DR Congo.
Like England, the Portuguese have a strong squad that's capable of winning the tournament this summer if they hit top form.
But they haven't reached a World Cup semi-final since 2006 and I'm not convinced that Roberto Martinez is the man to lead them to glory.
Portugal should still have too much class for DR Congo in this group opener and Bet365 make them 27/100 hot favourites, with the African side 10/1 rank outsiders.
DR Congo have lost just one of their last 13 matches so could be a tough nut to crack. So I'm going for a Portugal win with under 3/5 goals at 20/21.
The minnows will probably set up to frustrate and that could lead to plenty of corners. Over four first-half flag kicks pays 10/11 while over 6.5 Portugal corners is a bit bigger at 11/10.

Ghana vs Panama
Panama were whipping boys on their World Cup debut in 2018 and will be looking to put up more of a fight tonight in their Group L opener with Ghana.
The Central Americans lost all three games in Russia and ended up with a goal difference of minus nine in a chastening experience.
They were thrashed 6-1 by England eight years ago and face the Three Lions in their final group fixture this summer.
It's hard to see them heading into that game with any points and Ghana look decent value at 23/20 to beat Panama tonight.
The African giants have lost five of their last six games but they've been taking on tough opponents in their friendlies and now face a weaker Panama side who lost 6-2 to Brazil in a warm-up game.
