After returning to winning ways in Norway on Sunday, Thursday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me focus on the World Cup, and I’ve highlighted a goals-based selection in one of the fixtures.

⚽️ Ghana vs Panama

🏆 World Cup

⏰ Thursday 18 June, 00:00

Ghana and Panama get their World Cup campaign underway in Toronto in the early hours of Thursday morning in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.

Ghana qualified for their second consecutive World Cup – and their fifth overall – as they topped their qualifying group, finishing six points clear of second-placed Madagascar.

The Black Stars won eight and lost just one of their 10 qualifiers (W8-D1-L1), and know a win in Toronto in the early hours of the morning will be pivotal if they are to avoid a third consecutive group-stage exit.

Panama qualified for this year’s World Cup thanks to an unbeaten campaign (W4-D2-L0), as they finished three points clear of second-placed Suriname in their third-round qualifying group.

Los Canaleros will look to improve on their only previous World Cup appearance, which came in Russia in 2018, where they lost all three of their group-stage matches.

Bet of the Day

Goals have been a feature of Panama’s matches in recent months, with their last 10 matches averaging an eye-catching 3.40 goals per game, with Both Teams to Score landing in eight (80%) of them, including in each of their last five.

Both Teams to Score has landed in 3/4 (75%) of Ghana’s matches this calendar year, and with both targeting all three points given they share a group with England and Croatia, I’m anticipating an open encounter in Toronto in the early hours of Thursday morning.
