Israel vs Switzerland

, KO: 19:45 Nov 15, 2023, Pancho Arena
Switzerland

Switzerland can go top of Group I with a win as they battle Israel in a rescheduled European Championship qualifier on Tuesday. The Swiss are still unbeaten in the competition and with Israel not playing on their regular home patch, the visitors are likely to come out on top.

Israel are playing catch-up to the frontrunners Romania and Switzerland having claimed just three wins from seven matches so far. They are four points off the pace and will be keen to avoid falling further behind on Tuesday.

Alon Hazan's men head into Wednesday’s clash off the back of a 1-0 defeat to Kosovo in their previous qualifying fixture. They fell behind just before the break and despite seeing plenty of possession, could only muster two attempts on target throughout the encounter.

One positive for Israel in these qualifiers is their solid home record, with two of their three wins coming in front of their fans. However, while they are the home side on Wednesday, the clash will be played in Hungary due to the political situation in their country.

Switzerland are having a solid qualifying campaign as they are yet to taste defeat after seven matches. They are second in Group I, just one point behind Romania and can climb to the top of the standings with a win on Wednesday.

While things have been smooth for Switzerland in recent times, one thing that has hampered them is a leaky defence which has kept just one clean sheet in the last five matches. That defensive vulnerability was evident in their previous fixture as they played out a 3-3 draw with Kosovo.

Switzerland have also impressed on their travels in Group I with two wins and a draw from three away matches. Among their results in that run is a 5-0 victory in Belarus while Murat Yakin’s men also triumphed 2-1 over Andorra.

How the bookies view it

Switzerland have been installed as overwhelming favourites among the bookies and are priced at 11/20 by William Hill to claim the victory. Israel are considered outsiders with a home win valued at 5/2 by Paddy Power while a draw is set at odds of 3/1 by Betfred.

Head to head

Switzerland claimed their first win over Israel in the reverse fixture as they picked up a 3-0 victory back in March. Prior to that win, the previous four meetings had all ended in draws.

Players to watch

Switzerland had three different scorers in the reverse fixture, highlighting how they spread their goals across the team. Xherdan Shaqiri, Zeki Amdouni and Remo Freuler have all been among the goals lately and can ensure the Swiss produce over 1.5 goals on Wednesday at 4/5 with BoyleSports.

Israel also have multiple attacking threats with the likes of Manor Solomon, Shon Weissman and Oscar Gloukh all among the goals in the qualifiers. All three men could combine to produce over 0.5 goals for the home team at 8/11 with Betfred.

Anything else catch the eye?

Switzerland have produced over 3.5 goals in three of their last four matches and could be set for a similar outcome at 13/5 with Paddy Power. Over 2.5 goals could also be considered at evens with 10bet while William Hill is offering odds of 21/20 on both teams to score.

The Swiss are priced at minimal odds for a straight victory so a win and over 2.5 could be considered for move value at 7/4 with BoyleSports. They have also scored in both halves in two of their last three matches and could be set for a similar pattern at 9/5 with BoyleSports.

This match between Israel and Switzerland will be played on Nov 15, 2023 and kick off at 19:45. Check below for our tipsters best Israel vs Switzerland prediction. You may also visit our dedicated betting previews section for the most up to date previews.
