Heart of Midlothian are back in the UEFA Champions League qualifiers for the first time in 20 years but face a tough test on the road against Sturm Graz in a baptism of fire for new boss Wouter Vrancken.
It has been all change at Tynecastle since they suffered the gut-wrenching blow of losing the SPFL Premiership title on the final day of the season.
The Jambos looked set for their first top-flight triumph since the 1960s heading into the final few minutes of their decider at Celtic Park, only to ship two late goals in a 3-1 defeat.
They then suffered more heartache when manager Derek McInnes, captain Lawrence Shankland and midfield dynamo Cammy Devlin all jumped ship for Rangers.
Former Sint-Truidense and Gent boss Vrancken has been drafted into to replace McInnes while a host of new players have arrived.
But it's asking a lot for them to be ready for a clash against opponents as dangerous as Sturm Graz.
The Austrians beat Rangers in last season's Europa League then lost 2-1 to Celtic in Glasgow a few weeks later so they know all about Scottish opposition.
Sturm Graz graced the group stage of the Champions League two seasons ago and will be confident of taking their first step back to Europe's top table.
How the bookies view it: Graz appeal at 5/6
With Hearts in transition and trying to bed in so many new players, it's no surprise to see them as Bet365's 29/10 outsiders for a win in Austria. I thought Graz would be shorter than 5/6 for a home win while the draw pays 12/5.
Head to head: Jambos can take heart
These sides have never faced off in Europe but Hearts have a good record against Austrian opposition, going four games unbeaten. They saw off Austria Vienna in the 1988/89 UEFA Cup then beat Paks in the Europa League qualifiers 15 years ago.
Players to watch: Otar hero
Georgian playmaker Otar Kiteishvili was a standout for Sturm Graz last season, netting 18 times from midfield. The 30-year-old is 13/10 with Bet365 to get off the mark in their first game of the new campaign.
Despite speculation linking him with Lyon and Trabzonspor, Claudio Braga remains at Tynecastle for the time being. The Portuguese hit 17 goals last term and is 5/2 for a crucial strike in Austria.
Probable line-ups
Amadou Ba-Sy was left out of Hearts' original squad for this match but could be a late addition after scoring twice in Friday's friendly win over Rayo Vallecano. Keeper Alexander Schwolow is set to start despite an impending move to Mainz.
Striker Amady Camara is set to miss both legs of this game for Sturm Graz after the Mali international picked up a thigh strain. Filip Rozga and Leon Grigic are also both crocked.
Sturm Graz: Khudyakov, Mitchell, Vallci, Koller, Malic, Stankovic, Kiteishvili, Weinhandl, Hodl, Jatta, Malone.
Heart of Midlothian: Schwolow, Altena, Fagan-Walcott, McCart, Milne, Renaud, Magnusson, Kyziridis, Guendouz, Miller, Braga.
Anything else catch the eye?
Sturm Graz look decent value for the win with Hearts having a new manager and plenty of players set for debuts. If you want to boost the Austrian side's odds, adding on over 1.5 goals takes their price to 5/4.
Vrancken has a reputation for being a progressive coach and Hearts should be easier on the eye than they were under McInnes.
All three of their pre-season friendlies have seen goals at both ends, with 2-1 scorelines in each of those matches. That suggests this game could be open and combining BTTS with over 2.5 strikes pays 11/10 at Bet365.
We could see plenty of corners if it is an open match and I like the 20/21 on offer at the same firm for over four first-half flag kicks.
