, KO: 17:00 , Hotspur Way
MK Dons

Tottenham Hotspur will get their first pre-season runout of the summer under their belt when they face MK Dons at Hotspur Way on Wednesday evening.

Roberto De Zerbi is preparing for his first season in charge of Tottenham, having taken over towards the tail end of last term and successfully steering the club away from the threat of relegation.

The Italian has wasted little time in reshaping his squad, splashing more than £200 million on the likes of Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes and Jan Paul van Hecke.

The priority for the capital club next season will be mounting a push to return to the Champions League, but for now the focus is on fine-tuning preparations ahead of the new campaign.

MK Dons, meanwhile, are preparing for life back in English League One following their promotion last season.

Paul Warne’s side have already had a couple of pre-season outings, beating Maidenhead before suffering a defeat against Croatian outfit Istra 1961.

How the bookies view it: Odds unavailable

Odds for this fixture have not yet been released. We'll update this page as soon as they become available.

Head-to-head: History book dormant

Somewhat surprisingly, this will be just the second time Tottenham and MK Dons have crossed paths. The only previous meeting between the two sides came in an EFL Cup tie back in 2006, with Spurs cruising to a 5-0 victory.

Players to watch: Maddison to make his mark?

After missing the majority of last season through injury, James Maddison will be looking to build up his fitness and get back to his best ahead of the new campaign. The Spurs playmaker is a player to consider in the goals and assists markets should bookmakers make those options available.

Callum Paterson was an instrumental figure in MK Dons’ promotion campaign last season and is another name worth keeping an eye on in the goalscorer markets.

Predicted line-ups

New Tottenham recruits Fernandes and Tonali could feature in some capacity on Wednesday evening. However, the hosts will be without a number of their World Cup contingent, including Christian Romero and Djed Spence.

Charlie Goode and Dan Barlaser are among the new faces expected to feature for MK Dons on Wednesday evening.

Tottenham: Austin; Adewole, Dorrington, Phillips, Souza; Gray, Gallagher; Donley, Maddison, Moore; Lankshear

MK Dons: MacGillivray; Ekpiteta, Nelson, Goode; Jones, Wintle, Gilbey, Barlaser, Bramall; Hepburn-Murphy, Paterson

Anything else catch the eye?

This could be an entertaining friendly, with Tottenham to win, over 2.5 goals and both teams to score all potentially providing value.

However, with no odds currently available, much will depend on the prices when bookmakers do make their markets available.
