Armenia vs Wales

, KO: 14:00 Nov 18, 2023, Vazgen Sargsyan Republican Stadium, Yerevan
Wales

WALES could qualify for Euro 2024 with the right and admittedly unlikely set of results, but they have to concentrate on gaining revenge on Armenia first on Saturday.

The Welsh looked down and out in this group, especially in the summer where, in a rare recent humiliating day for them, they were stunned at home 4-2 by a nation 71 places below them in the FIFA rankings.

They then followed that up with a dismal 2-0 loss in Turkey to leave their qualifying hopes hanging by a thread. It led to serious doubts about Wales' chances of qualifying and also about the future of manager Rob Page.

But since then, he's guided them back to pole position to qualify after a fantastic and deserved win over Croatia.

They will clinch their place with a win in Yerevan and if Croatia lose to Latvia, but it's highly likely to go down to the last games with a blockbusting showdown against the Turks to come.

Armenia would actually go above Wales with a win on Saturday and are dangerous opponents having also claimed a draw in Turkey, but a shock loss in Latvia last month was a hammer blow to their hopes.

How the bookies view it

Wales are slightly worse than evens across the board here with bet365 going 19/20 on an away win.

Armenia can be backed at 16/5 with Coral and the draw is 23/10 with Paddy Power.

Recent head to heads

John Hartson netted a double in a 2-2 draw in Wales' last visit to Armenia in 2001. More pertinently, Wales will be smarting from that aforementioned 4-2 defeat in Cardiff in June.

Players to watch

Lucas Zelaryan shcoked Wales with a double in the summer and now plays his football in Saudi Arabia with Al-Fateh. He is 9/2 with Paddy Power to net on Saturday.

Harry Wilson was the Welsh hero when he scored a double against Croatia in the last round of games. And the Fulham star is 16/5 also with Paddy Power to net.

Anything else catch the eye?

Wales are good enough to continue their excellent work against Croatia by winning in the former Soviet nation and taking a big step towards Germany.

The win against Croatia was deserved and no fluke. Armenia seem to have some of their best results on the road, Latvia apart and they lost to group rivals Turkey and Croatia in Yerevan.

Rob Page knows how to dig out big results and they can edge this one. Back them also to win by one goal – as the Turks and Croats did – at 13/5 with Paddy Power.

There were seven yellow cards and a red card for Kieffer Moore when the teams last met in a bad-tempered encounter. So it could be interesting when the cards markets go up.

This match between Armenia and Wales will be played on Nov 18, 2023 and kick off at 14:00. Check below for our tipsters best Armenia vs Wales prediction. You may also visit our dedicated betting previews section for the most up to date previews.
