Golf Betting Tips from The Caddy

The DP World Tour visits Ireland this week for the Irish Open at The K Club, North Course, Straffan, County Kildare.

The 156-field with the top 65, including ties making the weekend, will all be competing for a share of the $6M prize purse. The winner will be collecting the Irish Open title and a winner's cheque for $1M.

Adrian Meronk returns to defend the title he won last year at Mount Juliet when seeing off Ryan Fox with three shots to spare. His winning scorecard read 268, -20.

The K Club Palmer North Course will be playing 7,441 yards long this week; it's a par 72 Parkland layout with the River Liffey posing many water features. Accuracy with tidy Tee to Green and Greens in Regulation figures will be pivotal to success this week.

The weather is forecast to have showers on Thursday and Sunday but will mainly be sunny, warm, and pleasant for the most part. Breezes will peak at no more than 10mph.

This event will be screened on Sky Sports Golf, with live coverage starting at 1 p.m. on Thursday afternoon.

Alexander Bjork 33/1 EW Unibet 1-6 places

For my first selection at The K Club, I’m going to advise Alexander Bjork 33/1 EW Unibet 1-6 places.

The Swedes are pouring it on at the moment & if anyone deserves a DP World Tour victory this year then it has to be Alexander Bjork. The 33-year-old has had ten Top 20 finishes in 2023 with eight of those being inside the Top 10 so it’s hard to ignore Bjork’s chances this week at The K Club. What’s really made my mind up is yet another runner-up spot last weekend at the European Masters finishing second best to his fellow countrymen Ludvig Aberg.

Talking about hitting the bar, that’s now twice this year Bjork has had to settle for the 2nd prize with the other being the Ras Al Khaimah Championship, that’s now five runner-up places in total for the Swede. If I haven’t convinced you yet then let’s have a look at some of the stats that Bjork brings entering this event. On the DPWT this season Bjork ranks; 1st in Stroke Average,3rd in Driving Accuracy, 9th in Greens in Regulation and 19th in Putts per GIR.

You’ll be struggling to find better stats across the board in this field so I’m backing Alexander Bjork to bag his first victory of the season & with it put Sweden firmly on the golfing map after Ludvig Aberg’s Swede success last weekend.

Vincent Norrman 45/1 EW PaddyPower 1-8 places

For my NB pick I’ve already mentioned the Swedes, well here’s another. Vincent Norrman 45/1 EW PaddyPower 1-8 places has already tasted success in his short Pro career when scooping the recent Barbosal Championship, an event co-sanctioned by the PGA & DP World Tours. This kid means business & I can assure you all that you’ll be hearing much more about him, possibly this weekend. In his short PGA career, the new kid in the block from Stockholm has impressed & also has impressive figures.

Par 5 scoring is going to be important at The K Club where Norrman ranks 6th on the PGA Tour this season. He’s 9th for Greens in Regulation, 5th Total Eagles, 4th for Bounce Backs, 3rd Going for the Green & his Driving stats aren’t too bad either where he ranks 14th for Total Driving. Other notable performances worth mentioning this year include T8th at the AT&T Byron Nelson & T9th at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.

With another few Top 20 efforts recently Norrman is definitely heading in the right direction & he could be top of the pile once again when he surprises almost everyone with another W this weekend in County Kildare. It would certainly come as no surprise to me that’s why I’ve included another Swede as my next-best pick to win the Irish Open.

Jordan Smith 35/1 EW SkyBet 1-8 places

For my final outright selection in Ireland, I’m going to recommend Jordan Smith 35/1 EW SkyBet 1-8 places. The 33-year-old Englishman from Bath hasn’t finished any worse than 41st at the last half dozen attempts with four of those being inside the Top 20. One of those efforts was a Top 10 when finishing T6th at the Porsche European Open & another worthy of a mention was T20th at The US Open. Jordan Smith also has another four Top 20 finishes out with the above this year with the best of those being T6th at the ISPS Handa Championship. Now here’s the big clue that may solve the puzzle this week at The K Club.

It doesn’t get any better than this for Greens in Regulation where Smith ranks 1st on the DPWT this season. He’s also 3rd SG Tee to Green, 9th for Stroke Average, & 15th Driving Accuracy so if combining all of the above then he should be up there challenging on the back nine on Sunday afternoon.

Last weekend in Switzerland at the European Masters Jordan Smith finished inside the Top 20 yet again so it’s clear for all to see that the Englishman arrives in Ireland with form in the bag. He hasn’t won an event since bagging the Portugal Masters last year but consistently could pay off for both Jordan Smith & all of us when he’s back in the winner’s enclosure this weekend with a victory at the Irish Open.

Surely there’s something wrong somewhere when Luke Donald can pick Shane Lowry ahead of Adrian Meronk considering Lowry has only finished once in top ten in the last year compared to Meronk who has won three tournaments in the last 15 months and finished 5th in the European list compared to Lowry who finished 11th and don’t forget Lowry also received a wild card in the last Ryder Cup 2years ago maybe a friends request worked

Surprised myself meronk wasn’t picked ,when you consider he won the Italian open in May on the same course the ryder cups been played.last week I tipped bjork who came second.

I seriously don’t think it was Shane Lowry who kept Meronk out of the Ryder Cup team . The captains can’t pick everyone so there’s always someone who’s going to miss out unfortunately. I do agree that Meronk was so unlucky not to be involved but then the same can be said about a few others . Hopefully this makes them even more resilient & I’m sure you’ll see a few of those who missed out playing for Europe next time around in New York in 2025 .⛳️

      Good luck as always Button111,
Will Meronk be in the right frame of mind to defend his title ,we will soon find out , he’s had a really tough week ,must feel so rejected but maybe he’ll have a point to prove not for just Luke Donald but for everyone ⛳️

Thanks for the amazing tip caddy I have a question for you I bet the brother and sister duo at the weekend a £1 each way double (£2 total bet ) Minjee won at 12/1 and her brother Minwoo lee placed at 20/1 but he was tied with 5 other golfers at 11 under (skybet each way bet paid the top 8) I got £6.80 back is this correct as he was tied so does that mean it is different odds for being tied thanks in advance
