PGA Championship 2024 betting tips

Another week and another event on the PGA Tour. After a thrilling weekend in Louisiana for the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, the tour returns to its standard strokeplay singles format at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson at TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas.

After a dramatic couple of weeks on the tour, several big names are sitting this one out with the highest ranked in player in the field Jordan Spieth, who is currently ranked number 20 in the official golf world rankings. The 30-year-old has had a poor start to the current season but will be hoping to find something this week ahead of the second major of the year in a fortnight.

The course at TPC Craig Ranch is a par 71 and the total yardage is 7,414. The weather forecast for the weekend is mixed, with thunderstorms expected over the weekend. There are also showers expected over the first couple of days.

With the players set to tee it up later on today, here are our CJ Cup Byron Nelson betting tips.

CJ Cup Byron Nelson betting tips

Adam Scott E/W (12 places) – 18/1

Adam Scott is looking more like his old self this season and in a field that doesn't contain the likes of Scheffler, McIlroy and Schauffele there is every chance that he could record his first win since 2020 this week.

The Australian, who famously won the Masters back in 2013, has only missed one cut this season in seven appearances and has ten top-ten finishes in the last twelve months. He hasn't played since the Masters which means he will be one of the freshest players in the field this week.

Scott is also someone who enjoys playing in Texas. Four of his 14 wins on the PGA Tour have come in the Lone Star State and he rounded off last year's Byron Nelson with an impressive round of 63. He has the form, is good around this course and represents fantastic value.

Tom Hoge E/W (12 places) – 20/1

Tom Hoge produced a steady and solid performance at this event last year, finishing the week with a score of -12. Although that wasn't nearly enough to challenge eventual winner, Jason Day, who finished on -23, it showed that Hoge is comfortable around TPC Craig Ranch.

Hoge has finished inside the top ten twice already this season and finished inside he top 20 in his last two appearances. This is probably the weakest field he has participated in this season, though, which represents a fantastic opportunity for him to potentially win the second PGA tour event of his career.

This season, Hoge is second only to Scottie Scheffler in strokes gained on approach shots to the green and with iron play key around TPC Craig Ranch, he should thrive.

Kyoung-Hoon Lee E/W (12 places) – 33/1

At 33/1, Kyoung-Hoon Lee represents unbelievable value. This is a course that he absolutely LOVES – he is 62-under-par over his 216 holes at Craig Ranch. His two wins on the PGA Tour have also both come at this tournament, at this course and the latest of those came just two years ago so for him to be priced so high is certainly a shock.

It's not as if the South Korean is having a particularly poor season, either. Just last month he recorded two top-ten finishes on the PGA Tour, first at the Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches and then at the Valspar Championship. He also finished in 11th place just last week at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.

When you weigh up his brilliant record at this venue and his confident start to 2024, this bet is somewhat of a no-brainer.
