The PGA Tour remains in the southeastern United States for another Signature Event this week as it heads to North Carolina for the Truist Championship at Quail Hollow Club.
Following last week’s return to Doral, several of the game’s biggest names are back in action, including Rory McIlroy, Matt Fitzpatrick, Xander Schauffele, Ludvig Aberg and Robert MacIntyre.
However, world number one Scottie Scheffler is absent, continuing his usual scheduling pattern around the USPGA Championship.

Quail Hollow is a classic modern championship test, as it is long, demanding and requiring elite execution from tee to green.
At over 7,500 yards, distance is a major advantage, particularly on the long par-4s and reachable par-5s. However, brute force alone is not enough. Players must combine power with control, as the tree-lined fairways, thick rough and strategically placed bunkers punish errant drives.

Unsurprisingly, McIlroy has opened as the favourite, given his exceptional record at Quail Hollow and the absence of world no.1 Scheffler, with last week's winner Cameron Young, Xander Schauffele and Matt Fitzpatrick not far behind in what looks like a strong and competitive front of the market.
With many of the world’s elite returning and a course that consistently rewards top-tier ball-striking, this is unlikely to be an event where weaker profiles can contend.
Instead, the focus will be on players who combine distance, long-iron excellence and the ability to perform under pressure on one of the most demanding closing stretches in golf.
Ludvig Aberg – 16/1 each-way (6 places)
Ludvig Aberg is one of the most intriguing options this week, even if backing him requires a degree of patience given his recent struggles to convert contention into victories.
However, players of his calibre rarely knock on the door this often without eventually breaking through.
Aberg’s profile fits Quail Hollow perfectly. A winner at Riviera Country Club, he also finished runner-up at The Masters Tournament in 2024 and has strong form across several correlated venues.
Earlier this season, he finished third at Bay Hill and just a week later, held a three-shot lead heading into the final nine holes of The Players Championship before unravelling. Importantly, that disappointment did not linger, as he responded with a top-five finish in Houston and a T4 at the RBC Heritage in his latest outing.
Statistically, he is well-suited too, ranking eighth for approach shots from 200+ yards and seventh for Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green, while also ranking inside the top-12 for Greens in Regulation in his last two starts.
The Swede's combination of length, high ball flight and improving consistency makes him an ideal fit for Quail Hollow, and this could be the week it all clicks.

Gary Woodland looks like an appealing value play this week, particularly if you are willing to overlook a disappointing weekend at Doral.
