The penultimate PGA Tour event of the season will take place this weekend, with 156 players descending on Georgia for the RSM Classic.
The event has been played across two courses at Sea Island Golf Club since 2015 and is yet to be won by the same player twice since that switch which makes it one of the more unpredictable tournaments on the calendar.
Low scores should be expected across the field this week. Last year's event was won by Ludvig Aberg, who posted a score of -29 after four rounds. However, the Swede wasn't the only player to post a score in the 20s, with two players shooting -22 and another posting -25.
The tournament is especially important for players looking to secure their place in the FedEx Cup next season. Players must be inside the top 125 to secure their playing privileges for 2025, and this is their last opportunity to secure points.
After picking the winner last week at the DP World Tour Championship, the pressure is on to make it two wins in two weeks.
Here are our RSM Classic betting tips ahead of the first tee times on Thursday.
RSM Classic betting tips
Brian Harman (Eight places) – 22/1
Over the years, the most important part of golf in this tournament has been putting with driving distance and accuracy both rendered irrelevant when it comes to analysing how each winner since 2015 has excelled around the two courses.
On average, all of the previous nine winners of this event have ranked inside the top ten for the week for putting average which instantly makes Brian Harman a contender. The former Open Championship winner is widely regarded as one of the best short game players on the tour and he will have the opportunity to lean on these skills this week.
Neither of the two courses are overly long so Harman's lack of distance off the tee won't be an issue. He has previous form at this event, too, after finishing as the runner-up in 2022 with a score of -19 and his price of 22/1 with several golf betting sites is one too good to miss out on.
Denny McCarthy (Eight places) – 22/1
Denny McCarthy is another player on the PGA Tour who is brilliant on the greens. The lack of danger on approach shots, his usual Achilles heel, will benefit him massively this week.
Over the course of 2024, McCarthy is ranked eighth on the PGA Tour for putting average but none of the seven players above him, including Scottie Scheffler and Collin Morikawa, are in the field this week which makes McCarthy statically the best putter going into tomorrow.
McCarthy also has previous good performances in this tournament and plenty of experience around both courses. He finished t5 in 2023, t10 in 2021 and t8 in 2019 which indicates he is someone who does particularly well every other year at Sea Island Golf Club. After an indifferent performance last season here, he is now due a good one.
Mackenzie Hughes (Eight places) – 30/1
Mackenzie Hughes may be ranked 63rd in the world but there isn't a player in the field this week who has a better record at the RSM Classic than him.
The Canadian won the event back in 2016 and has since finished as the runner-up on two other occasions, including last year when he posted a score of -25 which would have been enough to win the event in any other year.
Hughes has finished inside the top eight in two of his last three starts on the PGA Tour, too, so it's not as if he is coming into this one with no form to speak of.
