Welcome back to MFT’s 10-1,000 betting challenge, where we aim for a 100x return on the original investment via a small stake betting strategy, prioritising low risk and low odds en route to a long-term target.
While this column is dedicated to high-probability tips, there is no guarantee of profit. If playing along, you should consider your own budget and confidence in the tip provided, and make your own decision whether to follow, cash out or continue at every stage. 18+, please gamble responsibly.
We will use a unit system for our stakes, allowing readers to set their own unit value that suits their own budget. For the sake of simplicity, for us, 1 unit = £1.
We will continue to transparently track our progress as far as we go on the path to 1,000, but will refresh our main tracking stake back to the starting point every time we surpass 100 units – a 10x ROI.
For the sake of consistency, all tips are placed using odds from bet365. It worth pointing out that with Bet365 we can paid out if our selection goes into a lead by two or more goals.
Malta won 1-0 last night to extend the run. It wasn’t the most convincing victory but they never looked like losing the match.
Bet 5 – Romania vs Sweden – Monday 5th October at 19:45
Sweden's attacking record under Graham Potter and Romania's defensive numbers make the visitors to score at least once a strong option.
Sweden have scored in 12 of their 13 matches under Potter, with the only blank coming against France at the World Cup. They have scored 24 goals during that period, averaging 1.85 per game.
They have also scored in all three Nations League fixtures. Sweden opened with a 2-1 victory over Romania, generating around 0.8 xG, before producing a much stronger attacking display in their 3-1 victory over Poland. Potter's side generated 2.22 xG in that game.
Sweden then drew 1-1 away to Bosnia and Herzegovina, but once again the underlying performance deserved more. They generated 0.96 xG, created all three big chances and put four of their eight shots on target, while Bosnia managed only 0.11 xG.
Romania's defensive numbers provide further support. They have conceded in all three Nations League matches and have allowed progressively more xGA. Sweden generated around 0.8 xG in the opening meeting before Bosnia produced 2.47 xG in a 4-2 victory. Poland then generated 3.47 xG in their 6-0 win, although Radu Dragusin's 22nd-minute red card clearly affected that contest.
Across those three matches, Romania have conceded 12 goals and approximately 6.7 xGA.
Sweden have already scored twice against them and arrive after producing 3.18 xG across their last two Nations League matches.
