The Caddys Golf Tips

The DP World Tour remains in Spain for this week's Andalucia Masters at Real Club de Golf Sotogrande, San Roque, Andalucia.

The 126 field with the top 65 including ties making the weekend will all be competing for a share of the $3.75M prize purse with the winner receiving the Andalucia Masters title & a winning cheque for $625,125.

Adrian Otaegui returns to defend the title he won last year at Valderama, his winning scorecard read 265, -19.

Real Club de Golf Sotogrande will be playing 7,099 yards long this week, it’s a par 72 Parkland layout where approach play & accuracy will definitely factor.
A storm is forecast on Thursday with breezes peaking at over 30mph. Friday will be much calmer but the wind will still blow at around 20mph. Saturday & Sunday will be hot & sunny ideal conditions.

This event will be screened on Sky Sports Golf with live coverage starting at 1pm on Thursday afternoon.

So, let’s move on with this week's Andalucia Masters betting selections.

Jordan Smith 22/1 EW Bet365 1-8 places

For my first & main pick in Spain I’m going to single out Jordan Smith 22/1 EW Bet365 1-8 places. The recent runner up finish at the Open de France suggests to me that the 30yrs old Englishman could be ready for another visit to the winner’s enclosure, it would be his first since winning the Portugal Masters almost one year ago. With ten Top 20 finishes this year including three Top 10’s, Jordan Smith has certainly been playing some good golf & that consistently could pay off this week in Andalucia.

He ranked 2nd on the DPWT for Greens in Regulation, 13th for Driving Distance & 18th for Stroke Average so if combining the above three then he should be challenging for the Andalucia Masters on the back nine this Sunday afternoon. T20th at this years US Open is enough evidence to suggest that Jordan Smith can be up there with the very best but this should be a much easier week with none of the big guns on show. The Englishman can shoot his way to success & Jordan Smith could be the answer amidst tricky conditions in Andalucia this weekend.

Rasmus Hojgaard 28/1 EW 1-6 places Unibet

For my next selection I’m found to suggest Rasmus Hojgaard 28/1 EW 1-6 places Unibet. The young Dane finished 25th last time out at the weather affected Alfred Dunhill Links Championship but it’s his 4th place effort at the Open de France that has me interested.

You then get not have to go back a few tournaments to see a W for Rasmus when bagging the Made in Himmerland in his homeland. T3rd at the KLM Open was also a tremendous effort as was T6th at the Ras Al Khaimah Championship. With four DPWT titles already in the bag at only 22yrs old, this could be the perfect opportunity for Rasmus Hojgaard to make it five when he doubles up on his 2023 tally with another W this coming Sunday.

Romain Langasque 33/1 EW Unibet 1-8 places

For my final betting tip this week I’m going to suggest Romain Langasque 33/1 EW Unibet 1-8 places. The 28-year-old Frenchman has two Top 20 finishes at the last three attempts & he could go well at this venue. T9th last weekend in Madrid at the Open de Spain can be backed up with T14th at the BMW PGA Championship.

Langasque was unlucky in the summer finishing runner up at the at the Italian Open at the Marco Simone but he can go one better this week on a course that should suit his game. He’s ranked inside the Top 20 on the DPWT for for Stroke Average & Driving Distance but it’s Sand Saves that Romain relishes where he’s ranked 4th best on Tour.

With bunkers surrounding these tight greens then those Sand Save figures could be very important come Sunday afternoon. It’s about time that Romain Langasque got back to winning ways having not won an event since 2020 but if he arrives in Andalucia producing some of that fine recent form then he may not have to wait much longer.
