GREYHOUND DERBY: WIN VIP TICKETS TO SHAWFIELD DOGS

IF anyone is free this Saturday and fancies a trip to Shawfield dogs I'll be giving away five pairs of VIP tickets.

This weekend sees the quarter-final heats of Scotland's most prestigious dogs race, the Ladbrokes Scottish Derby.

All the action takes place at the Shawfield track in the east end of Glasgow and the prizes includes full hospitality on the night in the restaurant, including meal and drinks, PLUS a £25 bet on the night from Ladbrokes.

Ladbrokes spokesman Alex Donohue said: “The £17,500 to the winner of the Ladbrokes Scottish Greyhound Derby once again promises to be one of the highlights of the racing calendar.

“While topping last year's electric performance by superstar Ballymac Eske will be tough, with him not in the field this year it has opened the race up to a number of top prospects from all over the country who will make the long journey to Shawfield full of hope from as far afield as Essex, Peterborough and Birmingham with several raiders also heading across the Irish Sea to attempt to land the jackpot.

“There hasn't been a locally-trained winner of the race since the 70s but two dogs aiming to reverse that are Greenwell Mentor and Greenwell Lark. It may well pay to keep an eye on both runners as they bid to reverse the trend.”
