SlipsTips shares a Bet Builder ahead of Hearts' clash with Rangers in the Scottish Premiership on Monday evening.
Hearts vs Rangers, Monday (17:30)
Hearts and Rangers will collide at Tynecastle on Monday evening in a game that will have major implications for the Scottish Premiership title race.
Derek McInnes’ hosts will be looking to preserve their three-point lead at the top of the table, after Celtic moved level on points with the Jambos thanks to a 2-1 win over Hibernian on Sunday.
As for Rangers, they’ll be aiming to drag themselves back into title contention after crashing to a 3-2 defeat at home to Motherwell last weekend.
Nicolas Raskin To Commit 1+ Foul
For the first half of the Bet Builder double, I’m going with Nicolas Raskin to commit at least one foul. The all-action Rangers midfielder is bound to be right in the thick of what should be an intense midfield battle on Monday evening.
Moreover, Raskin has been one of Rangers’ main offenders this season, averaging 2.10 fouls per game in the Scottish top-flight. The Belgian overstepped the mark on no fewer than three occasions during last weekend’s 3–2 home defeat to Motherwell, meaning that he has been guilty of at least one offence in 21 of his 32 Scottish Premiership appearances this term. It's also worth noting that the 25-year-old has given away a combined total of five free-kicks across his last two outings against Hearts.
With Raskin likely to come up directly against Cammy Devlin, there’s every chance that trend continues. The Hearts midfielder is a fierce competitor in his own right, while also drawing an average of 2.87 fouls per 90 in the Scottish Premiership this season.
Lawrence Shankland To Commit 1+ Foul
The second leg is also a player-based selection, as I’m backing Lawrence Shankland to commit at least one foul. The Hearts skipper is likely to lead the line with plenty of aggression and physicality, and he will almost certainly come in for plenty of close attention from both Rangers centre-halves. What’s more, Shankland has committed at least one foul in 11 of his last 14 Scottish Premiership outings, including last week’s 2-1 win away at Hibernian. That means the Hearts hitman is now averaging 0.81 fouls per game in the Scottish Premiership this season.
The case for siding with this selection is further strengthened by the fact Shankland has been penalised in each of his previous two appearances against Rangers in this season’s Scottish Premiership.
Combining these three selections produces a value 5/6 shot that holds plenty of appeal.
