A point will be enough for England’s Lionesses in today’s clash (12.00) with China but manager Sarina Wiegman will be desperate for her side to put a strong performance. Two 1-0 wins have put them in pole position in Group D but plenty of other nations have looked more impressive during the group stages. A morale boosting victory would set up […]

HIBS fans are desperate to reach the group stage of the Europa Conference League after watching rivals Hearts enjoy glamour games against the likes of Fiorentina and Basaksehir last term. They’ll have to negotiate three qualifiers to hit the jackpot and the odds are probably stacked against Lee Johnson’s side. But they shouldn’t have too much trouble seeing off Inter […]

PLENTY of Premiership sides have come a cropper in the League Cup group stage but Kilmarnock and Ross County haven’t put a foot wrong so far. They both have 100 per cent records and a third successive win tonight would more or less seal their places in the knockout stage. Derek McInnes is starting to put his mark on the […]

With the Premiership sides getting up to speed, the chances of shocks in the League Cup group stage get smaller with each passing game. But plenty of big clubs know one more slip-up in the final two rounds of fixtures could end up costing them a place in the tournament’s knockout stages. Livingston look like the top-flight club at the […]

IT never feels like a World Cup until you see those famous yellow jerseys in action and all eyes will be on Brazil as they enter the fray Down Under this morning. Armchair fans will be hoping the samba stars bring a little razzamatazz to the women’s showpiece after some hugely underwhelming games so far. Just three matches so far […]

The Netherlands were runners-up at the last Women’s World Cup but have been written off for glory this year, with some firms pricing them as big as 35/1. That’s probably because they’ve been drawn in the same group as champions America and face a tricky route to the final but the Dutch are still capable of a long run in […]

ENGLAND kick off their Women’s World Cup campaign this morning and the bookies are banking on the Lionesses giving Haiti a mauling. The minnows are as big as 125/1 with Paddy Power while you have to go to -4 in the handicap to find decent odds on England at 7/5 with the same firm. There’s better value in the anytime […]

GOALS were pretty thin on the ground on day one of the Women’s World Cup, with co-hosts New Zealand and Australia both claiming 1-0 wins. But we should get more thrills today as Spain seeks revenge on Costa Rica for a shock 1-1 draw at the 2015 tournament. That result was a stunner but I’d be surprised if the Spanish […]

The Women’s World Cup gets underway this morning as co-hosts New Zealand and Australia start the party Down Under. With the Kiwis kicking off at 8 am, I’m steering clear of their game with Norway as most punters will still be having a kip or eating their breakfast. But Australia’s opener starts at 11 am and it will be interesting […]

AFTER a busy night of Scottish League Cup action, there’s only a couple of ties for punters to sink their teeth into today. No Premiership sides are in action but Championship Arbroath kick off their season with a visit from Lowland League outfit Cowdenbeath. Having come so close to a dream Premiership promotion two seasons ago, last term was something […]

The Scottish League Cup group stage usually throws up a few shocks and we saw three at the weekend as Dundee United, St Mirren and St Johnstone all crashed to defeats against minnows. Starting the competition in early July levels the playing field a bit and it will be interesting to see how United react to their 1-0 loss against […]

It was a Super Sunday with a host of tips landing, including a 10/1 cracker as Bob MacIntyre landed a top-five finish at the Scottish Open. There are slimmer pickings for punters on Monday, but we still have a handful of top-flight games in Scandinavia to sink our teeth into. After a horror campaign that saw them finish seventh last […]

SCOTTISH football is back with a bang this weekend as the League Cup group stage gets underway. There’s usually a few shocks with Premiership teams going in undercooked and St Mirren, St Johnstone and Hibs all failed to make it through their group last term. The last thing you want on day one is a road trip to an SPFL […]

EVERYONE wants to see Novak Djokovic slug it out with Carlos Alcaraz in the Wimbledon final and the bookies can’t see either of them slipping up in today’s semi-finals. Defending champion Djokovic is going for a fifth crown in a row and is Bet365’s hot 1/6 favourite to see of Jannik Sinner this afternoon. The young Italian came close to […]

IT’S women’s semi-final day at Wimbledon and Ons Jabeur will be on a high after her revenge mission against Elena Rybakina. The Tunisian avenged her defeat in last year’s showpiece but the bookies don’t fancy her to reach another final as they make Arnya Sabalenka an odds-on favourite today. The Belarusian has dropped just one set in the entire tournament […]

The draw for the Champions League qualifiers hasn’t been kind on The New Saints and the Welsh side will need to upset the odds tonight against Hacken in Sweden. TNS have been regulars in Euro qualifying over the last two decades but they’ve never got beyond the third round of games. And the bookies reckon their latest shot at the […]

It has only been a month since we watched Manchester City beat Inter Milan in Istanbul to complete a memorable treble. But qualifying for the next Champions League started a fortnight ago and there are some intriguing first-round clashes tonight. Shamrock Rovers have already made history as the first Irish team to reach the group stage of the Europa League. […]

We’re into the second week at Wimbledon and there’s plenty for the Pimm’s and lemonade brigade to get excited about today. World No.1 Carlos Alcaraz is back in action and faces his toughest test yet against 2021 finalist Matteo Berrettini. The young matador has played some mesmerising shots so far but Alcaraz has also looked a little vulnerable in his […]

THE Under-21 Euros came to an end last night but international football still hasn’t packed up for the summer. It’s quarter-final time at the CONCACAF Gold Cup and there’s a cracker late tonight as co-hosts Canada and the USA face-off in Cincinnati. Neither country is taking competition particularly seriously this year, with most of their big-name stars left out of […]

It’s a shame armchair fans have been denied the opportunity to watch the emerging talent at the U21 European Championships but Channel 4 have saved the day by screening tonight’s final where England are on the brink of glory at the tournament for the first time since 1984. Spain are the opposition and they’ve been the team to beat at […]
