Wales need a minor miracle if they’re to qualify for next summer’s Euros this evening.

They blew the chance to take control of their own destiny with a 1-1 draw in Armenia on Saturday, now they need to beat Turkey and hope that the Armenians can do them a favour in Croatia by drawing at least – a 16/1 double for any optimistic Welshmen.

That would leave Wales on the same points as Croatia but with a better head-to-head and on their way to Germany.

Although already qualified Turkey need a point to ensure they’ll finish in top spot so won’t be taking this one lightly but we’ve seen a few teams tail off after securing qualification.

Wales are 5/4 to win but you wonder if the stuffing has been knocked out of them following that disappointment in Armenia. A full stadium in Cardiff will be roaring them on but the mood might be tempered by what's happening over in Zagreb.

The first goal line has been set at 29:00 minutes, Wales have managed a goal before that mark just Ince this campaign, as have Turkey, so on a night when neither side will likely to go gung-ho and slow start could be profitable.

Top spot is still up for grabs in Group I. Romania are top, two points ahead of Switzerland and they both meet in Bucharest tonight.

Two goals at the death earned Romania a 2-2 draw in Lucerne and late goals were a feature of Switzerland’s campaign. They also conceded in added time in Kosovo to drop two points, in the 89th minute in Israel at the expense of another two points and an 82nd minute Kosovan equaliser on Saturday cost them top spot in the table.

They themselves rescued a point at home to Belarus. Having gone 3-1 down in the 84th minute they scored two in two minutes before the final whistle for a 3-3 draw.

Following that trend tonight a goal after 74:59 pays 5/6, including added time that could give us a good 20 minutes or more to see a goal in a game that there’s enough riding on for it matter to both nations.

After a 14-0 drubbing by France on Saturday you have to fear the worst for Gibraltar who host the Netherlands this evening.

The good news is that the Dutch have already qualified so they may not have their foot on the gas, but then, so had France!

A fragile Gib side will be out to restore some pride but if they concede early the floodgates could open again and Over 5.5 goals at 10/11 will be popular. As might the 14/1 on the goals tally reaching double figures again.

Miami Heat -3.5 at Bulls 11/10
Teams played last night, Heat were up 13 at end of Q1 slightly reduced to up 8 at end of Q3 before absolutely caving in the final quarter to lose by 5. Tonight I think Heat learn their lesson and keep concentration to the end. ✅
Heat feast with an 18 point gap, covering the above, along with my alternate handicap (-8.5) and prop bets.

I can’t make a specific bet recommendation since I know nothing about the Palestine national team, but there seem to be fairly generous odds on Australia handicap win and Australian goals, eg Australia +1.5fhgs at 13/8. Oz coming off the back of a 7-0 win over Bangladesh with 4 fhgs whilst Palestine grabbed a 0-0 draw with Lebanon. Game will be in neutral Kuwait. Any reason not to jump in with both feet on the Aussies?

    • baldy45 5 months ago

I’m thinking the opposite way. On paper the Aussies should be winning this by a good margin, but politics is involved. For the same reason I was very confident Israel would not beat Romania, I’m equally confident that Palestine won’t be hammered by Australia. I’ve layed the “any unquoted” away win on betfair at a shade over 2/1 (as long as the Aussies don’t win while scoring more than 3 goals, its a winning bet). I’ve also backed BTTS at 2/1 on betfair. Looks generous to me in a match where the Aussies may well be shall we say less motivated than normal.

Good call Baldy, a dire game, exacerbated by Arnold bringing on MacLaren in the third minute of injury time to blow my ags bet on him. ❌

Iran have come in from plus odds last night to a still backable 17/20 to beat Uzbekistan, which they’ve done the last 7 times the two sides have met.
I’m also adding in +2.5 match goals. This doesn’t hit as often but both sides look to have goals in them and apparently Iran play attacking football under their current coach so I’ll take the double at 3/1

❌ on Iran ✅ on the less likely 2.5 as the Iranians race into a first half lead then… go to the beach or something? Ends 2-2 FML

    Sharks vs Canucks 1:3
    -2.5 @ 2.15 looser
Elias Pettersson to score @2.1 looser
J.T Miller to score @2.1 winner
Quinn Hughes to score @ 4 winner.

As today Quinn Hughes becomes NHL top point scorer, bearing in mind he is a defender. So it’s simply worth to put on him to score every game at odds 5 or more. Hat trick is @151 and it’s good chance to see him making hat trick 1 or twice a season, so do your math :D

    Euro 2024 Qualifiers

Armenia to score 11-8 NAP (SKYBET)
    Side bet
BTTS and over 2.5 goals 15-8 SKYBET

If Wales win, which is doubtful but I live in hope, then Croatia will need to win to qualify.
Apparently they have a few players injured and hopefully Armenia can throw a spanner in the works by netting, though I expect Croatia to get the job done 2 or 3-1.

    • elvis parsley 5 months ago

Adding a red card in the match to the above at 5-1 (HILLS)
Could get tetchy if things are in the balance late on

Like Santa, I have gone in search of naughty boys for my evening bet.
Turkey managed to get 5 yellows in their “friendly” v Germany and haven’t dropped below 3 cards in their 5 previous games
Greece were more gentle in their friendly, but have picked up 4 cards in each of their last 3 competitive games (plus one red)
Over 2.5 cards 9/5 Greece Evs Turkey
    Over 3.5 cards 5/1 Greece 29/10 Turkey
Hopefully a few of these guys end up on the ref’s naughty list tonight

Was anyone watching the Turkey game? I’ve been paid out on 4 cards but they got 5, however one may have been after the final whistle – it’s not clear on sofascore as it shows as given the same minute whistle was blown so can’t tell if before or after. Thanks
