The return of the Premier League couldn’t be back with a bigger bang; a clash between champions Manchester City and the only club to have halted their relentless march to top flight silverware in recent years, Liverpool.

The two giants meet at the Etihad in a lunchtime kick-off and the outcome could have a big bearing on the destination of the title.

A win for City would take them four points clear and seemingly destined to make it six titles in seven years. A Liverpool victory would not only offer hope to themselves but Arsenal and Spurs who are still within touching distance of the champions.

But the Reds have won just one of their past 14 Premier League trips to City (D5 L8) and travel to Manchester aiming to end City’s run of 23 wins at home so the odds are stacked against them at 16/5 to win. City are 8/11 but there looks better bets on today’s card.

Newcastle’s home form has been pretty solid, only Liverpool have won there in the league thanks to two late goals by Darwin Núñez. They’ve also beaten Man City in the League Cup and PSG in the Champions League at St James’ Park so probably should be shorter than 31/20 to win against Chelsea today.

The Blues have been improving and have won more points on the road than at Stamford Bridge but Newcastle look the value at those odds.

Sheffield United v Bournemouth isn’t a match that stands out but there could be goals at Bramall Lane. 83% of Sheff Utd home matches have seen Over 2.5 goals, while all of Bournemouth’s away matches have gone Over 2.5. It’s 4/5 for three or more today.

Southampton are the form team in the Championship and visit fourth-bottom Huddersfield who have won one point in 12. The Terriers have been struggling for goals, scoring once in their last four outings so the away win looks good for accas at 7/10 as does the 8/11 on two or more Saints goals.

Double that up with another 8/11 shot, Norwich to score two at home to struggling QPR. The Canaries got back to winning ways with a morale-boosting win at Cardiff and can pile more misery on Rangers. The double pays just short of 2/1.

League Two has been good to us for goals this season where matches are averaging three per game.

Pick of the bunch for Over 2.5 Goals looks to be Crewe v Doncaster and Newport v Stockport.

Derek Adams has returned to Ross County for a third time hoping to repeat the kind of success during his previous stints. He could get off to a flier thanks to Kilmarnock being the visitors. Killie have picked up just two points from six away games and had an abysmal away record last season. The Staggies look overpriced at 21/10 to win and 9/5 to score two or more.

St Mirren can get things back on track with a win over Livingston. Livi have suffered five straight defeats, failing to score in the last four. Just one goal in their last nine have come from open play so the problems for David Martindale are obvious.

The Buddies may have won just one in six themselves but two of those were against Celtic and Rangers so will feel they’re due a win and can secure all three points at 8/11.

In the Scottish Cup Partick Thistle can continue to have the upper hand in Glasgow Derbies this season. They host Queen’s Park at Firhill and are 7/10 to win. Goals have been a feature of Thistle matches so take the Jags to score two or more en route to the fourth round.

I think City will win today, Liverpools form has been hit and miss this season. Klopp lost his mind many years ago and most would say he can’t string 2 words togetter Nevermind a season defining victory in Manchester. His transfer activity has lost all its focus and there seems to be weakness in his squad and starting 11 now that Liverpool 3 worldies can’t compensate for. The man’s an idiot, you only have to watch him on the TV to see that.

Geezer If you think he is an idiot I would have him any day over pep and man shitty who have to be at least dropped to the championship for all their financial crap they have done over the years if what has happened to Everton the start of things to come they must go after Chelski but as always Sky and Man shitty will never let it happen it will drag on for ages I respect your opinion but I don’t have to like it Sky BT sport have ruined football to its core it’s time the fans turned on them and stop subscribing let’s have a level playing field and see who wins the league have a great day bashing the bookies

    Basketball tips from last night:
    Pacers -7.5 ✅
    Pelicans +5 ✅
    Timberwolves -4 ❌
The Pacers almost made me look an idiot with their awful rebounding before they pulled away in the last quarter to cover the above and my alternate spread bet of -11, whilst the Pelicans – as I predicted- didn’t even need the extra five. Sadly the Wolves got defanged to blow my accas.

Overall record last night for ref on any future basketball recs I make:
    Pre game handicap 5/7
Pre game match line 2/2 (not impressive, long negative odds, for accas only)
    Pre game total points 1/1
Pre game Players props 4/11 (terrible after being 5/5 last time, need to not spread the net so wide)

    Bolton v Exeter

The form team in the division at home to a side with arguably the worst form in the EFL right now. As an Exeter fan I can honestly say I’ve never been more sure of a home banker in this game.. We’re horrendous and Bolton should be 1/4 in my opinion…

However.. Cheick Diabate (centre back) was tried as a centre forward in the EFL trophy game against Swindon mid week and I believe he’s starting up front again today. @skybet have him priced as 28/1 to score anytime.. Got to be worth a punt!

      They should score 2+. hully

It’s the last game of the season and vile nova are one of many teams vying for a top 4 promotion slot, a win and vile nova should be promoted unless athletico go win by 3 more goals than vile nova do, simples 😮
while the home team were doomed long ago to relegation.

Should be easy as ABC as the Jackson’s once sang, shit song though, sounds like a musical youth song if you remember them.

OK I currently can’t bet due to the Paddy issue, so in the spirit of “here’s what I would have done” my basketball picks are:
76ers to beat okc moneyline (no handicap) – this game is judged bang on 50/50 based on the odds I saw earlier so this is a punt on Embiid back from injury tonight and feasting
Heat +6 v Nets. Heat gave up a big lead last night, tonight I think they get ahead and stay there and I like the 6 point cushion the bookies are giving us on top
Hawks v Wizards, handicap is set at 8.5 which is how many the Hawks beat them by earlier in the season. I think Wizards are stronger now than they were then but I don’t trust them enough to beat the spread, and they could just as easily lose this by 20 the way they are playing final quarters. Avoiding.
Lakers v Cavs – fitness issues with the Lakers that often miraculously disappear half an hour before the game. Avoiding
Pelicans -2.5 v the Jazz. I like the Pels and they’ve won 5 of their last 6 but they played last night and I haven’t seen the Jazz this season. I’d back the Pels but wouldn’t advise you to follow.
Mavs -2 v Clippers. Nom nom nom. Clippers played last night, Mavs didn’t, back the Mavs but be prepared to wait for the Clippers’ old legs to seize up in the final quarter
So if you think I’m the sort of unlucky **** who would have all his picks come through on a night he couldn’t bet, follow the above 😂

    Tonight’s boxing tip….

    Chantelle Cameron v Katie Taylor.

There’s no doubt that Katie Taylor’s on the wane….. or so speak, and she is the underdog tonight for her rematch with Chantelle Cameron…. however…. I do think that Katie will have learnt a lot from the defeat in May and will be more savvy tonight.

This one should go the distance, and Katie Taylor is around 15/8 to win on points.

    GL All 🤞
