Michael Carrick savoured an epic comeback win at Old Trafford in midweek but it will count for nothing if Manchester United follow it up with a Premier League defeat by Aston Villa today.
The Red Devils will decide on the fate of their beleaguered boss during the international break and Tuesday's 3-2 Champions League win over Roma ended a run of nine games without a victory.
That has given Carrick a bit of respite but defeat today at home to Villa could bring down the axe as it might leave Manchester United in the Premier League drop zone.
Manchester United vs Roma top betting tips
Whatever Carrick said at half-time on Tuesday night did the trick as his dispirited Manchester United roared back from a 2-0 deficit to dump Roma.
If the Red Devils can match the intensity they showed in that second half for 90 minutes they will be a tough team to beat and Bet365 make them 11/10 favourites today.
But Roma underlined the defensive fragility of Carrick's side in the first half on Tuesday night and they still look a bit too ragged.
Unai Emery, on the other hand, has Aston Villa expertly drilled and they showed how dangerous they can be by beating Manchester City a fortnight ago.
Villa have since gone three games without a win, including a 3-0 beating by Barcelona on Tuesday, and that's why they are 11/5 outsiders today.
But that price looks pretty tempting given Manchester United's poor form and Villa also appeal at 10/11 to win either half.
Crystal Palace vs Liverpool
Pierre Sage is another Premier League manager under pressure and his Crystal Palace side badly need a result when Liverpool come to Selhurst Park today.
The Eagles have won just once in their last seven games and needed a last-gasp leveller to avoid defeat at home to Hoffenheim in the Europa League on Thursday night.
Liverpool were also poor in Europe last week as they blew a 2-1 lead to crash 3-2 away to Fenerbahce in the Champions League.
But Andoni Iraola rested some big hitters for that game and Bet365 make the Reds 4/7 hot favourites to pile on the pain for Sage today.
Anfield striker Alexander Isak should start after a scoring cameo off the bench in Turkey and the Swede is 6/5 with Bet365 for anytime scorer.
Liverpool continue to look poor at the back and combining BTTS with over 2.5 goals is another good option at 10/11.
Heart of Midlothian vs Falkirk
Heart of Midlothian are in the midst of an injury crisis so in-form Falkirk will fancy their chances of plundering SPFL Premiership points at Tynecastle today.
It has been a painful week for the Jambos, with last Sunday's League Cup semi-final loss to bitter rivals Hibs followed by a 3-1 defeat to Thun in the Conference League.
Manager Wouter Vrancken is having to make do and mend with so many players on the sidelines, with Hearts struggling to cope with fighting on two fronts.
So I'm suprised to see the Tynecastle side as 3/5 jollies today, especially with Falkirk in such superb form.
The Bairns beat champions Celtic 2-0 at home last weekend and that made it four wins in a row for John McGlynn's men.
Another victory would take them above Hearts into third so Falkirk look overpriced at 7/2. I'm going to play it a bit safer and back them to win either half at 13/8.
Super singles
- Aston Villa to win 11/5 Bet365
- Alexander Isak anytime scorer 6/5 Bet365
- Falkirk to win either half 13/8 Bet365
