The Premier League returns to Selhurst Park this Sunday, as Crystal Palace host top-four-chasing Liverpool in a crucial clash for both sides. This fixture has produced plenty of surprises in recent seasons, making it one you don’t want to miss this time.
Crystal Palace are enduring a miserable run in the league. The Eagles have failed to score in their last three Premier League outings, suffering damaging defeats against Tottenham (2-0), Newcastle United (2-0), and a humiliating 5-0 thrashing away at Brighton.
While a midweek 1-1 draw against Hoffenheim in the Europa League provided a minor morale boost, their domestic form is a massive cause for concern.
Liverpool, meanwhile, have hit a minor speed bump of their own. After a stellar run of form spanning the last two months, the Reds suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Arsenal at Anfield last weekend, followed by a 3-2 comeback loss to Fenerbahce in the Champions League on Wednesday.
Statistically, Palace's defensive frailties are glaring, having leaked nine goals in their last three league matches. Overall, no team has conceded more times than they have in the Premier League this season.
Liverpool should take advantage of that, although their attack has so far been the least effective among the current top six.
How the bookies view it: Leaning heavily on an away triumph
The odds accurately reflect the current trajectories of both clubs. Palace simply cannot buy a goal in the Premier League right now, and Liverpool are understandably priced as clear favourites, sitting at around 11/20.
The draw is priced at around 33/10, whilst a Crystal Palace victory is considered a long shot at 9/2.
Recent head-to-head: Palace have the formula for success against Liverpool
Crystal Palace have proven to be somewhat of a bogey team for Liverpool in domestic cups, notably knocking them out of the EFL Cup with a 3-0 victory at Anfield in October 2025, and edging them on penalties in the 2025 Community Shield.
The Reds have had more success in Premier League H2Hs, although the Eagles have often made it difficult. For instance, Palace won the same fixture 2-1 last season.
If we look at the overall picture, Liverpool have only three wins against Crystal Palace in the last 10 H2Hs in all competitions.
Players to watch: Isak has been carrying the Reds on his back
It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that Liverpool have Alexander Isak to thank for the majority of their points this season. With 11 goals scored so far, the Reds definitely need improvement in the final third.
Alexander Isak has scored six of those 11 Premier League goals so far, often providing the winning piece of the puzzle.
Probable line-ups
Crystal Palace: Henderson, Richards, Disasi, Canvot, Mingueza, Wharton, Timber, Mitchell, Kamada, Pino, Guessand
Liverpool: Becker, van Dijk, Kerkez, Jacquet, Araujo, Mac Allister, Nyoni, Barcola, Wirtz, Gakpo, Isak
Anything else catch the eye?
The standout here is Palace's severe lack of goals in the league combined with their defence that simply cannot stop conceding. Liverpool will be eager to bounce back aggressively from back-to-back defeats, and facing a struggling Palace side could be the exact kind of remedy.
Even with a recent slight dip, the visitors possess far too much firepower compared to the hosts, considering that the Eagles failed to score in three consecutive PL fixtures.
