Both targeting three points, albeit for different reasons, West Ham and Everton will lock horns at the London Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have recently dragged themselves out of the relegation zone, and will be looking to pull further clear of trouble by toppling the Toffees this weekend.
As for the visitors, they will be aiming to reignite their push for Europe by bouncing back from last week’s agonising 2-1 defeat to arch-rivals Liverpool.
Mateus Fernandes To Be Fouled 1+ Time
For the first half of what will be a Bet Builder double, I’m more than happy to back Mateus Fernandes to be fouled at least once.
The West Ham midfielder has enjoyed an impressive campaign, with his ability to draw fouls standing out in particular. In fact, Fernandes is drawing an average 1.54 fouls per game in the Premier League this season, having been brought down at least once in 19 of his last 21 appearances. Across that same 21-game stretch, the Portuguese midfielder has won multiple free-kicks on 11 occasions.
It’s also worth noting that the 21-year-old was fouled four times during West Ham’s clash with Crystal Palace on Monday night, further strengthening the case for him to be upended at least once on Saturday afternoon.
James Garner To Commit 1+ Foul
The second leg of the Bet Builder ties in nicely with the first, as I’m going for James Garner to commit a minimum of one foul. The Everton midfielder is likely to be operating in the same areas as the aforementioned Fernandes, making him a prime candidate to overstep the mark at least once.
Moreover, the combative Toffees midfielder has been a regular offender this season, committing an average of 0.95 fouls per game in the Premier League. That said, the numbers only tell part of the story. The majority of Garner's infringements have come away from home, as he has been penalised in 12 of Everton’s 16 top-flight road trips this term, committing two or more fouls in nine of those matches.
Garner’s aggressive streak is further underlined by the fact he has racked up nine yellow cards in the Premier League this season, the most recent of which came against Liverpool last weekend.
Combining these two selections creates a value even-money (bet365) play that holds plenty of appeal, particularly with the possibility of both legs landing during the same passage of play.
