SlipsTips shares a selection ahead of Motherwell's clash with Celtic in the Scottish Premiership on Wednesday night.
Motherwell vs Celtic (Wednesday, 20:00)
Motherwell and Celtic face off in the Scottish Premiership on Wednesday night in a game that will have major implications for the destination of the title.
Celtic’s 3-1 win over arch-rivals Rangers on Sunday means they now head into their final two games of the season knowing that two more victories will secure another Scottish top-flight crown.
As for Motherwell, they still have work to do if they want to finish in fourth place following an impressive season under Jens Berthel Askou.
While this does have the feel of a potential banana skin for Celtic, the bookmakers’ odds suggest Martin O’Neill’s side will get the job done at Fir Park on Wednesday night, with an away win priced at around 4/5 with most firms.
However, as I tend to do, I’m going to turn my attention to a player-based selection that has caught my eye.
Daizen Maeda was the star of the show in Sunday’s Old Firm clash when bagging a brace, yet it’s not his goals I’m focusing on here.
The Japanese international is an eye-catching 5/4 with Ladbrokes to commit two or more fouls at Fir Park on Wednesday night, and that looks too big to ignore.
The energy and relentless work rate Maeda consistently brings to Celtic often sees him getting on the wrong side of the referee.
That was certainly the case against Rangers last time out, when he committed no fewer than six fouls and picked up a yellow card in the process.
That means Maeda has now been penalised at least twice in four of his last eight Scottish Premiership outings.
With attack-minded Motherwell expected to enjoy plenty of possession on Wednesday night, Maeda’s recent foul trend could easily continue, particularly with him likely to be leading the line.
So, with all things considered, the Celtic ace looks good value to overstep the mark at least twice at Fir Park, particularly in a game of this magnitude.
