Motherwell vs Celtic

, KO: 20:00 , Fir Park
Celtic

It has been a rollercoaster season for Celtic but if they win their final two games, starting with this tricky trip to Motherwell, they will land a fifth successive SPFL Premiership title.

The Hoops looked set to surrender their crown when Wilfried Nancy shipped 12 points during his disastrous 33-day spell as manager during the winter.

But Martin O'Neill answered another SOS and the wise old campaigner has managed to get a tune out of a poor squad.

The Hoops are peaking at the right time and made it five Premiership wins in a row with Sunday's 3-1 derby triumph over Rangers, a game that saw all three recommended bets land for Greg.

That moved them just a point behind Hearts with only two games to go but their penultimate fixture at Fir Park is fraught with danger.

Motherwell have been one of the stories of the Premiership season, with Danish boss Jens Berthel Askou getting them to play some fearless and attractive football.

The Steelmen have taken points off Rangers and Hearts already since the Premiership split and if they can beat Celtic for a second time this season it could hand the title to the Jambos.

How the bookies view it: Hoops odds-on favourites

A win or draw for Celtic would set up a final-day decider with Hearts at Parkhead and the bookies are banking on that happening. Motherwell look a bit too big for me at 10/3 with BetMGM, while Celtic's best price is 5/6 at Coral and the draw pays 3/1 with Bet365.

Recent head to head: Fir Park demons for Celts

O'Neill lost the Premiership title at Fir Park on the final day back in 2005 so heading back there will stir some unhappy memories. Celtic also lost 2-0 in Motherwell during Nancy's reign but they've won six of their last seven meetings with the Steelmen.

Players to watch: Worth a Long shot

Emmanuel Longelo scored twice for Motherwell in their 3-2 win at Ibrox a few weeks ago and also provided the cross that led to Stephen Kingsley's own goal in the 1-1 draw with Hearts at the winger. The dangerous wide player is a tempting 2/1 with Bet365 for a goal or assist.

Celtic's derby hero was Daizen Maeda, with his second-half double making it six goals in four games. The Japanese forward's confidence will be sky high and he looks overpriced at 8/5 with William Hill for anytime scorer.

Probable line-ups

Motherwell are without Stephen Welsh as the loanee can't feature against his parent club. Jordan McGhee, Paul McGinn and Lukas Fadinger are doubts but Eythor Bjorgolfsson is set to miss out again.

Celtic remain without long-term absentees Cameron Carter-Vickers and Jota, while injuries have ended the loan spells of Julian Araujo and Tomas Cvancara.

Motherwell: Ward, O'Donnell, Gordon, Sparrow, Longelo, Slattery, Watt, Priestman, Said, Just, Maswanhise.

Celtic: Sinisalo, Johnston, Trusty, Scales, Tierney, McGregor, Engels, Nygren, Tounekti, Yang, Maeda.

Anything else catch the eye?

Askou always sets his team up to have a go and it has led to some entertaining encounters with the Hoops. BTTS and over 2.5 goals has come up in two of the three meetings this term and it pays 10/11 with SkyBet here.

Another feature of games between these sides this season has been a lack of corners. Neither of the last two meetings have produced more than five flag kicks and we only saw eight when Hearts came to Fir Park at the weekend.

That makes backing under 9.5 corners a decent option tonight and it pays 5/4 with Betfred.
