SlipsTips shares a Bet Builder double ahead of Celtic’s clash with Roma in the Europa League on Thursday night.

Celtic vs Roma (Thursday, 20:00)

Celtic will be targeting back-to-back wins in the Europa League when they play host to Roma on Thursday night.

The Hoops boosted their qualification hopes with an impressive 3-1 victory away at Feyenoord a fortnight ago.

However, this week’s visit from Roma will be a stern test for new Celtic boss Wilfried Nancy, whose debut ended on a disappointing note as the Hoops lost 2-1 to Hearts on Sunday.

Callum McGregor To Commit 1+ Foul

For the first instalment of this player-based double, I’m going to include Callum McGregor to commit a minimum of one foul.

The Celtic captain is prone to getting on the wrong side of the referee, evidenced by the fact he has committed an average of 1.37 fouls per game on continental duty this season. In fact, McGregor has overstepped the mark in each of Celtic’s five league phase fixtures to date, committing multiple fouls in three of those contests.

On top of that, the 32-year-old has averaged 1.20 fouls per 90 in this season’s Scottish Premiership, giving away at least one free-kick in seven of Celtic’s eight top-flight fixtures on home turf this term.

Now up against a Roma side laced with talent, McGregor merits support to commit one foul or more on Thursday night.

Liam Scales To Commit 1+ Foul

Another Celtic player I’m happy to back to commit at least one foul during this contest is Liam Scales.

The Celtic centre-half has racked up a combined total of seven offences across his five appearances in this season’s Europa League, committing exactly two fouls in each of Celtic’s previous home games.

The Republic of Ireland international has also been a regular on Scottish Premiership referees’ radars this season, committing an average of 0.94 fouls per game, tackling his way into trouble in each of his last eight appearances.

The fact Scales has picked up seven yellow cards across his 25 appearances in all competitions this season offers further encouragement for this selection, especially given the calibre of opposition Celtic will be facing on Thursday night.
