THIS weekend is the one punters always dread; FA Cup, Scottish Cup, frozen pitches, depleted squads, fringe players and upsets in the making. It's no wonder Mr Fixit always advised caution and small stakes.
The weekend got off to a slightly farcical start as Aston Villa were forced to field a tem full up youths, up way past their bed-time, in their FA Cup tie against Liverpool. The youngest gave a good account of themselves but succumbed to a trio of second half goals after going in level at half-time.
Adama Traore‘s fine strike also sent Wolves in to the next round at the expense of Crystal Palace. Meanwhile the anicipated shock never materiealised at Hampden where Queen of the South comfortably seen off their lower ranked opponents, Queen's Park.

In the Premiership it's hard to fathom how Dundee United are as big as 12/5 (Coral) at home to St Johnstone who haven't won in the league in matches. United's home record stands up to scrutiny on their return to the top flight. Defeats have come against Rangers, Celtic and Hibs but outwith that they've taken 16 points from 24 at Tannadice.
The Arabs look value at that price but even better with Draw on our side at 11/8 with BetVictor.
In the FA Cup Everton should see off Rotherham, who languish at the bottom end of the Championship, in the lunch-time kick-off. Gaffer Carlo Ancelotti is previous winner of the trophy with Chelsea back in 2010 and also has succesful cup campiagns in Italy and Spain on his CV so knows the value of a good run enough to take this seriously.
Championship side Raith Rovers might have their eye on a promotion prize this season but they can book a place in the 3rd of the Scottish Cup with a win at Stirling Albion who are two divisions below them. The Binos have been in very good form in League Two but Friday's clash between Queen's Park and Queen of the South deomnstrated the gulf in quality between the divisions.
Similarly I'm banking on Airdrieonians to make their quality tell against Edinburgh who have failed to reach the same levels that they did last season.

Like a few singles today, couple from the Scottish cup, couple from the french league.
2 teams look a bit overpriced to me today in the Scottish cup, for me bookmakers have priced these games up on their opponents reputation and spending power, and that’s the games involving Alloa and Stranraer. Granted Alloa are slight favourites against cove however I feel the 8/5 on offer opposed to 17/10 for cove is a tad generous when you factor in Alloa play in the division above cove, they play on a plastic pitch which they are used to, and this season they’ve already beaten Inverness and hearts at home, drew with Dundee and ran hibs very close, and that cove have 1 win in their last 5 away games scoring 2 goals in the process. Might be wrong but 8/5s enough to tempt me.
The next game is Kelty v Stranraer. Kelty are top of the lowland league which along with the highland league is the division below Stranraer and are big spenders in that league, but the match has been moved away from their home ground and the face a Stranraer team in fine form, the only defeat they’ve suffered in their last 10 was away to ayr via a penalty shootout and again I feel the away side are a tad overpriced here at 17/10 outsiders.
Prices are good enough to tempt me to part with a couple of points.

The next 2 involve angers of the french league. They’ve caught my eye in the past month or so with their proclivity for corners, often notching up 6+ team corners in their games and it’s a market ive made a couple of bob on so far, so I’m happy to share it today in the hope it goes well. Recently they’ve went 6-2-6-6-6-2-7-8 and I’m happy to take a couple of skybet prices for 4 and 5 for their trip to Monaco today. 2 of those matches mentioned were against Lille and Lyon so they can produce against the bigger sides. Brookland, if you are who I think you are, you’d take wise counsel in just posting your tips and enjoying the site without rubbing folk up the wrong way.
