The FA Cup third-round draw has thrown up a couple of ties for the romantics today as Accrington Stanley head to Anfield before Salford City make the short trip to the Etihad.
But the bookies make the League Two sides rank outsiders and it's hard to see either springing a shock away from home against the Premier League giants.
Liverpool and Manchester City are likely to field shadow sides amidst a demanding schedule at home and abroad, with key league games looming just a few days later.
Arne Slot and Pep Guardiola have plenty of talent in reserve though and the fringe players should have too much quality for the minnows.
Liverpool vs Accrington Stanley top betting tips
Liverpool's form has dipped a little in the last two games, with a home draw against Manchester United in the Premier League followed by a 1-0 loss at Tottenham in the first leg of the EFL Cup semi-final.
A drop in performance is understandable having played so many games across the festive period and I'd imagine Slot will make wholesale changes here to freshen things up a little.
Harvey Elliott is one of the fringe players who should start and the midfielder looks decent value at 11/8 for anytime scorer.
Liverpool will want to kill the tie off early so I like the 20/23 on offer at BoyleSports for the Reds to score over 1.5 goals in the first half.
We could also see a lot of corners if Accrington Stanley try to park the bus and backing over 9.5 Liverpool flag kicks pays 13/10.
Stanley could try to unsettle Slot's stars and I like the 6/4 on offer at Bet365 for Accrington -1 in the card handicap.
Manchester City vs Salford City top betting tips
Salford City are part-owned by a group of Manchester United legends so there should be a bit of edge to their FA Cup clash with Manchester City.
The Class of 92 are enjoying one of their best seasons since taking over Salford, with the team riding high in League Two after winning their last six games.
They've kept a clean sheet in all of those matches but keeping out Manchester City's stars is a taller order and another shutout is priced at a whopping 20/1 by BoyleSports.
Guardiola's side still aren't back to their best after a horror slump but they have won their last two games and confidence levels are rising again.
It's hard finding value but corners look like a good option again with Salford likely to set up to frustrate. Over 9.5 flag kicks for the home side pays 6/4 while City -7 in the corner handicap is the same price.
The card handicap appeals in this tie too, with Salford -1 priced at a hefty 11/5 by Bet365.
Rest of the FA Cup action
Trying to find shocks is often tricky in the FA Cup with some managers using the competition to rotate their squad as they prioritise the league.
The teams chasing promotion in the EFL Championship are likely to rest some players today so there could be some value in betting against them.
Sunderland are at home to fellow Championship side Stoke and the away win looks overpriced at 4/1 if the Black Cats make a lot of changes. You can also back Stoke at 11/8 in the double chance.
Burnley are on the road at League One Reading and the Royals head into the game in fine form, winning three of their last four games and drawing the other.
Backing Reading in the double chance also appeals here at 6/4.
