Torino vs Juventus

, KO: 17:00 Jan 11, 2025, Stadio Olimpico Grand Torino
Juventus

Juventus will aim to maintain their fine record in the Turin Derby as they face Torino in a Serie A Fixture on Saturday. The Bianconeri are unbeaten in the league this season and should have enough to get past their local rivals.

Things have been difficult for Torino lately as they have claimed just one win in their last 10 Serie A matches and are in the bottom half of the table. They have failed to score in seven matches in that run, including the 0-0 draw with Parma in their previous fixture.

Torino have also struggled at home, failing to win any of their matches at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino. The goals have also been hard to come by for Paolo Vanoli’s men, who have failed to score in four matches in that run.

Juventus will be looking to bounce back from the 2-1 defeat to AC Milan in the Italian Super Cup semi-final in midweek. Thiago Motta’s men are still unbeaten in Serie A this season but will be keen to turn their numerous draws into wins having thrown away the lead twice to play out a 2-2 scoreline with Fiorentina last time out.

The Bianconeri have a decent record on their travels, with four wins from their eight Serie A away matches so far. They boast one of the best defensive records this season and have kept five clean sheets in that run.

How the bookies view it: Old Lady backed

Juventus have the upper hand among the bookies and are priced at 5/6 by BoyleSports to claim the win. Torino are considered outsiders, with BoyleSports offering 15/4 for a home win while a draw is set at odds of 21/10.

Head to head: Juve on top

Juventus have a 32-3 advantage with 10 draws from 45 previous matches against Torino. The Bianconeri have won four of the last five meetings and have already beaten their rivals this season, claiming a 2-0 home victory in the reverse fixture in August.

Players to watch: Eyes on Yildiz

With Dusan Vlahovic rated doubtful for the derby, Kenan Yildiz could be worth keeping an eye on for Juventus. The forward was on target in the Super Cup and is priced at 10/3 by BoyleSports to get on the score sheet once again.

Juventus’ defence has also been solid this season with the likes of Pierre Kalulu and Federico Gatti often partnering at the back. Both men can shut out the Torino attack and can be backed to keep a clean sheet at evens with BoyleSports.

Probable line-ups

Torino have injury problems with Duvan Zapata, Samuele Ricci, Perr Schurrs and Saul Coco all injured. Che Adams should continue in attack with Nikola Vlasic providing support while Guillermo Maripan is set to feature at the back.

Vlahovic went off injured in the Super Cup and is considered doubtful for Sunday while Manuel Locatelli and Bremer remain sidelined. Timothy Weah should start in attack for Juventus while Kephren Thuram should feature in midfield.

Torino: Milinkovic-Savic, Walukiewicz, Maripan, Vojvoda, Sosa, Ilic, Linetty, Lazaro, Karamoh, Vlasic, Adam
Juventus: Di Gregorio, Savona, Kalulu, Gatti, Cambiasso, Thuram, McKennie, Yildiz, Koopmeiners, Gonzalez, Weah

Anything else catch the eye?

Juventus often keep clean sheets against Torino and having earned wins to nil in two of the last three meetings, a similar outcome could be considered at 13/8 with BoyleSports. There have been more goals after the break in five of the Bianconeri’s last seven matches and a similar pattern is priced at 23/20 with BoyleSports.

Torino and Juventus have played out halftime draws in three of their last four meetings and a similar pattern is valued at 20/23 with BoyleSports.
