Wolverhampton Wanderers vs AFC Bournemouth

, KO: 15:00 Nov 30, 2024, Molineux
AFC Bournemouth

Wolverhampton Wanderers have sparked their season into life with a four-game unbeaten run and will be looking to bank more precious Premier League points when they welcome AFC Bournemouth to Molineux.

Things were looking grim for Wolves boss Gary O'Neil when his side propped up the table after taking just one point from their first eight leagues games this term. But the board kept faith with him and have been rewarded by a remarkable upturn in form.

Battling draws with Brighton and Crystal Palace have been followed by wins over Southampton and Fulham, with a goals bet landing for me in that 4-1 victory at Craven Cottage. It's an impressive run of results and Wolverhampton Wanderers are now 5/2 in the betting for relegation.

Last weekend's win lifted them out of the drop zone but they're only above Ipswich on goal difference so O'Neil will be desperate for a win against the side who sacked him in 2023.

Bournemouth's results under Andoni Iraola have vindicated the decision to axe O'Neil and the progressive Basque coach has the Cherries playing some lovely football again this season.

They've claimed the scalps of Arsenal and Manchester City on the south coast but have been less impressive on the road so Iraola will be looking to end their travel sickness with a Molineux win.

How the bookies view it: Cherries just have the edge

I thought Wolves would be slight favourites for this one after their revival but Betano price them at 7/4 and have Bournemouth at a smaller 13/10. The draw will be popular with punters and that pays 13/5.

Recent head to head: Nothing in it

Home advantage didn't count for anything in this last fixture last season, with Wolves winning 2-1 on the south coast before AFC Bournemouth got their revenge with a 1-0 Molineux triumph. It has been tight across the last 10 meetings, with four wins apiece and three draws.

Players to watch: Cunha's class shining through

Few players in the Premier League are in better form than Wolves star Matheus Cunha. The Brazilian's double last weekend made it four goals in his last four games and he's 5/4 with Betano for anytime scorer here.

Bournemouth's big-money summer signing Evanilson is starting to hit his stride, with the former Porto striker netting four times in his last seven games. He's 11/10 to either score or assist in this game and that looks a decent price.

Probable line-ups

Wolves' injury list has cleared up a little but they're still without Enso Gonzalez, Boubacar Traore, Sasa Kalajdzic and Yerson Mosquera.

Antoine Semenyo has really caught the eye for Bournemouth this season so his suspension for picking up five yellow cards is a big blow. Alex Scott and Luis Sinisterra also miss out due to injury.

Wolverhampton Wanderers: Sa, Ait-Nouri, Lemina, T Gomes, Andre, J Gomes, R Gomes, Semedo, Larsen, Cunha, Bellegarde.

AFC Bournemouth: Kepa, Kerkez, Senesi, Smith, Zabarnyi, Cook, Adams, Christie, Tavernier, Kluivert, Evanilson.

Anything else catch the eye?

These sides both possess plenty of firepower so this should be a decent watch with plenty of goalmouth action. BTTS pays just 40/85 though and adding on over 2.5 goals only boosts the odds to 33/40 in a bet builder. Going for over 3.5 strikes is better at 6/4 with the same firm while backing most goals to come after the break pays 20/21 with Bet365.

Both meetings last season were fiery affairs, with two red cards and 13 yellows across those two games. That suggests this could be a busy day for the ref and over 57.5 booking points pays evens with Betfred.

There was also a one-goal winning margin in both clashes last season so this should be a tight game. The half-time draw pays 5/4 with Betano while McBookie price another one-goal winning margin at 13/10.
