Salzburg will be looking to build on an impressive victory on match-day one as they welcome Real Sociedad to the Red Bull Arena for a Group D fixture on Tuesday. Group D is considered one of the most open in this year’s Champions League and manager Gerhard Struber will be pleased to have made a solid start to the competition. The one blemish in Salzburg’s recent good form is a 1-0 defeat to Blau-Weiß Linz in their last home fixture. However, having claimed back-to-back 2-0 wins over Rapid Vienna and Austria Vienna in the previous fixtures at the Red Bull Arena, they will be confident of claiming the upper hand on Tuesday.
Real Sociedad are coming off a draw as they played out a 1-2 scoreline with Inter Milan in their opening Group D fixture. They took an early lead through Brais Mendez and held on for much of the contest before being breached three minutes from time.
While manager Imanol Alguacil will be disappointed not to have held on, that result appears to have sparked a resurgence for Real Sociedad, who had won just once in their previous five matches. They have now won their last three matches and travel to Salzburg off the back of a 3-0 victory over Athletic Bilbao in a La Liga clash last Saturday.
A slight problem for Real Sociedad is that they are a bit erratic on their travels having claimed just two wins from their last five away matches. However, they did pick up a 1-0 at Valencia in their last fixture on the road.

Both teams met in the round of 32 of the 2017-18 Europa League with Salzburg claiming a 4-3 aggregate victory. The Austrians held out for a 2-2 draw in Sociedad before picking up a 2-1 victory at the Red Bull Arena.

Karim Konate failed to find the net on match-day one but is the leading scorer for Salzburg with five goals this season. The forward was on target at Austria Lustenau last Saturday and could be worth keeping an eye on to score anytime at 4/1 with Unibet.
Takefusa Kubo continues to enjoy a rich vein of goalscoring form having found the net in two of his last three matches. Unibet is offering odds of 22/5 on the attacker to get on the score sheet on Tuesday.
