Welcome back to MFT’s 10-1,000 betting challenge, where we aim for a 100x return on the original investment via a small stake betting strategy, prioritising low risk and low odds en route to a long-term target.
While this column is dedicated to high-probability tips, there is no guarantee of profit. If playing along, you should consider your own budget and confidence in the tip provided, and make your own decision whether to follow, cash out or continue at every stage. 18+, please gamble responsibly.
We will use a unit system for our stakes, allowing readers to set their own unit value that suits their own budget. For the sake of simplicity, for us, 1 unit = £1.
We will continue to transparently track our progress as far as we go on the path to 1,000, but will refresh our main tracking stake back to the starting point every time we surpass 100 units – a 10x ROI.
For the sake of consistency, all tips are placed using odds from bet365. It worth pointing out that with Bet365 we can paid out if our selection goes into a lead by two or more goals.
Accrington left it late for our two goals on Saturday, but the data backed up the bet. Stanley generated 2.26 xG with 22 shots and 34 touches in the Cheltenham penalty area.
Bet 4 – Malta vs Andorra – Sunday 4th October at 17:00
Malta Draw No Bet at 2/9 looks a strong option against an Andorra side whose current Nations League performances, recent results and long-term away record all point in the same direction.
These sides have already met during the current campaign, with Malta winning 2-1 in Andorra last month. More importantly, the underlying numbers strongly supported the result. Malta generated 3.48 xG compared with Andorra's 0.76, registered eight shots on target and created seven big chances. It was a performance which showed a much wider gap between the teams than the one-goal winning margin suggests.
Andorra followed that defeat with a 0-0 draw away to Gibraltar, but again struggled to create enough going forward. They generated only 0.76 xG and have now averaged 0.76 xG against 1.88 xGA across their opening two Nations League matches.
Their latest result continued the pattern. Andorra were beaten 3-0 away by Lithuania, leaving their last three matches reading two defeats and one draw. They have scored once and conceded five during that sequence.
The longer-term away record is another major reason for using the DNB market. Andorra have won only four of their last 60 away internationals, drawing 11 and losing 45. They have scored only 17 goals across those 60 games, an average of 0.28 per match.
Even those four victories need context. Every one came against either San Marino or Liechtenstein. Andorra have not beaten anyone else away across that entire 60-match sample and enter Sunday's fixture without an away victory in their last 21.
Malta also have the head-to-head record in their favour. They are unbeaten across the last five meetings, winning three and drawing two. Malta DNB would therefore have returned three winners and two refunds from those five matches.
That draw protection is important. Andorra have shown they are capable of making games difficult and holding opponents, but winning away has been a different matter. With a draw returning the stake, Malta DNB at 2/9 leaves an Andorra victory as the only losing outcome.
