LAZIO will be looking to take what would be a massive step towards the Champions League knockout stages by securing three points against Celtic at the Stadio Olimpico on Tuesday evening.
The Eagles exacted revenge over Feyenoord with a narrow 1-0 win on matchday four, a victory that has propelled the Italians into second spot in the Group E standings.
Given that something will have to give when Feyenoord face Atletico Madrid this midweek, Maurizio Sarri's men will look to fulfil their end of the bargain with a victory over Celtic.
That being said, Lazio's preparations for this clash were far from ideal as they went down 2-1 at Salernitana in Serie A on Saturday.
Visitors Celtic will also head into this game off the back of a poor performance, after they were held to a 1-1 draw at Motherwell in the Scottish Premiership at the weekend.
The Hoops' slim hopes of getting out of Group E were all but ended in a 6-0 mauling from Atletico Madrid earlier this month, a bruising setback that left Brendan Rodgers' side rock-bottom of the section.
Outright Betting
Despite their indifferent form domestically, Lazio are lowly 11/20 (Bet 365) favourites to bank all three points on Tuesday night.
Celtic earned a famous 2-1 win in the Europa League at this venue back in 2019 but the same outcome here is as big as 5/1 (Bet 365) while a Stadio Olimpico stalemate is an unfancied 10/3 (UniBet).
Betting Angles
Lazio are just a little too skinny for my liking on Tuesday evening, with Both Teams to score the more appealing option at 5/6 with UniBet.
While the Eagles are in a strong position in Group E, they have hardly been pulling up trees domestically of late, picking up just one point from their last three league games.
What’s more, Maurizio Sarri's side have failed to keep a clean sheet in five of their last seven league games, not to mention they only have one shutout to their name across their four Champions League outings this term.
Admittedly, Celtic have a simply wretched record away from home in the Champions League, however they caused Lazio plenty of problems at Parkhead and they are certainly capable of landing a blow in the Italian capital.
However, at the other end of park the Bhoys' backline will be hard tasked if they are to bag what would be a first Champions League group stage clean sheet in 15 attempts.
With that in mind, and given that a draw doesn't really suit either side here, backing both teams to oblige looks worth taking on at 5/6 (UniBet).
If Celtic are to get on the scoresheet here, then it’s hard to look beyond Kyogo Furuhashi to deliver a goal at 3/1 with Bet 365.
The Japanese goal-getter notched in the reverse fixture and he looks too big to ignore at 3/1 (Bet 365) to repeat the trick in the Eternal City.
