England vs Switzerland

, KO: 17:30 Mar 26, 2022, Wembley
Switzerland

ENGLAND entertain Switzerland in a friendly on Saturday evening at Wembley as part of their preparations for the 2022 Fifa World Cup in Qatar.

Gareth Southgate's side showed brilliant attitude to bounce back from their Euro 2020 heartbreak by going undefeated in their World Cup qualifiers.

The Three Lions triumphed in eight of their 10 Group I fixtures, drawing the other two, to claim top honours in the pool by a six-point margin in the process.

With this year's winter showpiece in Qatar now on the horizon, England will be keen to keep the feelgood factor flowing when they face Switzerland this weekend.

Murat Yakin's men will head to London in sky-high spirits after pipping European champions Italy to top spot in Group C.

After surging to the quarter-final stage of Euro 2020, the Swiss are now building a real pedigree on the international stage, and they will certainly provide a stern test within this match.

Outright Betting

England, who haven't lost a match inside 90 minutes since November 2020, enter this friendly as odds-on 9/13 (SBK) favourites.

Despite avoiding defeat in normal time in each of their last nine competitive matches, Switzerland arrive in London as 47/10 (SBK) outsiders while an all-square affair has been priced up at 28/11 (SBK).

Betting Angles

England are worthy favourites here but they are unlikely to have things all their own way so I'll head to the Bet Builder market to get a bigger price.

If we combine England to win and under five match goals we will be presented with a 10/11 (Bet 365) play and that looks like a worthy boost in price.

Whilst this is just a friendly match, history would suggest that this is exactly the type of assignment that England are particularly efficient in dealing with.

The Three Lions have lost only one of their last 59 matches in qualifying for both the European Championships and World Cup, posting a whopping 47 wins in the process.

What's more, in their last qualifying campaign, as well Euro 2020, England were well-nigh flawless, and a tight rearguard was central to their success, so backing the hosts to prevail here in a low-scoring affair holds obvious appeal.

As already alluded to, opposing outfit Switzerland have proven to be a tough nut to crack, having not lost inside 90 minutes in each of their last nine meaningful matches.

In fact, the Red Crosses have tasted defeat in just one of their last 16 competitive contests – a 3-0 defeat to Italy at Euro 2020 – so they should be more than capable of keeping this Wembley friendly respectable.

With that in mind, coupled with the fact that England have won 17 of their last 21 matches at their capital base (D3 L1), siding with the aforementioned Bet Builder stands out at 10/11 (Bet 365) on Saturday evening.

This match between England and Switzerland will be played on Mar 26, 2022 and kick off at 17:30. Check below for our tipsters best England vs Switzerland prediction. You may also visit our dedicated betting previews section for the most up to date previews.
