Borussia Dortmund vs Eintracht Frankfurt
German Bundesliga, KO: 14:30 Apr 3, 2021, Signal Iduna ParkBorussia Dortmund are hoping make a late push for a Champions League finish as they host Eintracht Frankfurt in a German Bundesliga clash at the Signal Iduna Park. Frankfurt have the quality to cause problems on Saturday but Dortmund have a solid record at home and should edge this one.
Dortmund went into the international break following a 2-2 draw against Cologne in their last Bundesliga fixture. They needed a brace from Erling Haaland, including a 90th minute equaliser to salvage a point.
It has been an inconsistent campaign for Edin Terzic’s men but they remain within four points of the Champions League places. They have suffered just one defeat in six matches but have problems seeing out games having also been held 2-2 by Hoffenheim in that run.
Dortmund have also been let down by poor defending throughout the season and have conceded four goals in their last three matches. The one positive in recent weeks is their form at the Signal Iduna Park where they have claimed three wins in four matches, including a 2-0 triumph over Hertha Berlin in their last home fixture.
Eintracht Frankfurt where in fine form in their previous Bundesliga outing as they triumphed 5-2 against Union Berlin. Andre Silva netted a brace while efforts from Filip Kostic, Timothy Chandler and a Robert Andrich own goal earned them the win.
It was a much-needed victory for Adi Hutter’s men who had failed to win in their previous three fixtures. It gave them a four-point lead over the chasing pack in the race for the final Champions League spot.
A problem for Frankfurt is their leaky defence which has seen them fail to keep a clean sheet in their last five matches. They are also unconvincing on their travels and are winless in four of their last six away matches, including a 2-1 defeat at Bremen while they also lost 4-1 against Bayer Leverkusen.
How the bookies view it
Dortmund go into this one as favourites among the bookies and are priced at 11/14 by SBK to secure the win. The same firm is offering 18/5 for a Frankfurt victory while a draw is set at 3/1 by BetVictor.
Given Dortmund’s fine home form lately, I am tempted to side with the bookies on this one.
Head to head
Dortmund often come out on top in this fixture with 48 wins from 98 previous matches. Frankfurt have claimed 30 wins while there have been 20 stalemates between both teams, including a 1-1 draw in the reverse fixture.
Dortmund have won the last four meetings at the Signal Iduna Park, and claimed a 4-0 victory the last time they hosted Frankfurt.
Players to watch
Erling Haaland netted a brace in his previous appearance and will once again be the one to watch for Dortmund. Paddy Power has the Norwegian striker at 8/13 to score anytime while Unibet is offering 13/5 for the first goal.
Frankfurt often depend on the twin attacking threats of Andre Silva and Filip Kostic who were both on target last time out. Silva is valued at 19/20 by bet365 to score anytime while Skybet has Kostic at 13/2 in the same market.
Anything else catch the eye?
With both teams solid in attack and often shaky at the back, the goals market should offer some reward. Over 4.5 goals is valued ay 10/3 by bet365, who are also offering 11/8 for over 3.5 goals while over 2.5 goals is set at odds of 27/50.
A score/win double with Erling Haaland and Borussia Dortmund could be worth a punt at 19/20 with Skybet. Dortmund could also be backed to earn a win and over 2.5 goals at 13/10 with betway while both teams are also likely to score in the first half at 11/4 with bet365.
