Leeds United vs Newcastle United

, KO: 20:00 , Elland Road
Newcastle United

Leeds United and Newcastle United will look to protect their unbeaten starts to the Premier League season as they meet at Elland Road on Monday Night Football.

Leeds have made an unbeaten start to their Premier League campaign, as they have taken five points from their opening three matches.

Daniel Farke’s men began the season with a rare 0-1 win away at Nottingham Forest, before back-to-back 1-1 draws at home to Brentford and away at Brighton & Hove Albion – with me landing an 11/8 winner at the AMEX last weekend.

However, the Whites suffered a Carabao Cup exit in midweek, as they surrendered a two-goal lead at Stamford Bridge to lose 6-3 to Chelsea in an entertaining clash.

Newcastle, on the other hand, progressed to the fourth round of the Carabao Cup in midweek, as they clinched a 0-1 win away at Championship side Millwall thanks to a late Joe Willock strike.

Matthias Jaissle’s visitors have also collected five points from their opening three Premier League matches this term.

The Magpies followed up their 2-2 draw at home to Liverpool and 0-2 win away at Spurs by coming from two goals down to draw with Bournemouth last weekend.

How the bookies view it: Leeds favourites

Leeds are favourites to bounce back from their Carabao Cup exit in midweek, with bet365 pricing the hosts at 13/10.

Newcastle are 2/1 to maintain their 100% record away from home this season, whilst the draw is 5/2.

Head to head: Tight encounters between the pair

These two clubs played out a seven-goal thriller when they last met at St James’s Park at the turn of the year, with Newcastle scoring twice in stoppage time to win 4-3.

However, prior to that, each of the last three Premier League meetings have ended in a draw, including each of the last two at Elland Road.

Players to watch: Dom to deliver?

Last season’s top scorer Dominic Calvert-Lewin took his tally to two in midweek as he scored in their cup loss away at Chelsea.

The ex-Everton frontman also scored in Leeds’ last home match with Brentford, and he is 6/4 at bet365 to add to his goal tally at Elland Road on Monday night.

Predicted line-ups:

Leeds will still be without the injured Joe Rodon and Mateo Joseph, whilst Ilia Gruev is a doubt.

Newcastle are missing the injured Dan Burn, Joelinton, Will Osula and Ewen Jaouen.

Leeds United: Trafford, Justin, Elvedi, Muharemovic, Bogle, Ampadu, Tanaka, Gudmundsson, Stach, Okafor, Calvert-Lewin

Newcastle United: Hornicek, Dedic, Thiaw, Botman, Hall, Gonzalez, Miles, Elanga, Willock, Barnes, Wissa

Anything else catch the eye?

Both of these clubs head into this clash still unbeaten in the Premier League this season and I wouldn’t be surprised if that remained that way after full time at Elland Road on Monday night.

Both sides have drawn two of their three Premier League clashes, and a repeat pays an appealing 5/2 at bet365.

What’s more, three of their last four meetings between these two clubs have ended in a stalemate – including a goalless draw in this fixture last season – which only adds to the appeal that we’ll see a low-scoring stalemate here.
