There is hardly anything more surprising than PSG’s form in Europe’s top five leagues, as they are a full five points off the top in Ligue 1.

They face a tough derby on Sunday, but before that, we have a whole round of interesting clashes that could make the race for the top even more intense.

Keep reading below for our expert tips and predictions for all Ligue 1 clashes.

Today’s Ligue 1 betting tips & predictions

Paris FC vs. Strasbourg (4:15pm)

Paris FC have the tied-best defence after four rounds, but that will be put to the test when they face Strasbourg, who boast the most effective attack with nine goals so far.

The interesting fact here is that while Le Racing have been sensational in attack, their defence also ranks among the three worst in the league with eight conceded goals in four matches.

This makes me believe that we will see some action in this match. Strasbourg know how to score, but Paris FC will take advantage of any mistake. Not to mention that the hosts won six of their last eight Ligue 1 home games.

Angers vs. Troyes (7:45pm)

This fixture rarely draws the attention it deserves, but never fails to deliver. Angers and Troyes are very used to each other from their time in both the top flight and Ligue 2, and they’ve played a bunch of H2Hs in recent years.

The last six H2Hs featured goals from both sides. Eight of the last nine featured more than three goals. So far, this season has been almost identical for them, and they sit next to each other in the standings.

The only notable difference is Troyes’ weaker defence, which currently ranks second for goals conceded. Since they will be visiting, I am expecting more from Angers, but as a whole, I will be going for goals.

Angers vs. Troyes top betting tip: BTTS, Over 2.5 goals

Le Mans vs. Lorient (7:45pm)

As expected, Le Mans are far from ready for the top flight and it is not surprising that they are still looking for their first win of the season. On the other end, Lorient have not surprised us either, and their inconsistency continues in the new campaign.

The only thing Le Mans can boast is their undefeated run at home. MUC 72 have not lost in 17 consecutive home games, and managed to push Lens and Brest to draws too.

There is so much room for improvement, but we can say the same about Lorient, who have been completely unpredictable. The best I could hope for here is a draw, as I believe the home advantage will make a difference.

Lyon vs. Rennes (7:45pm)

Lyon host Rennes in the highlight of Saturday’s Ligue 1 schedule, and they are both unbeaten after four rounds. The Red and Blacks have done a tad better with three wins and one draw, while Lyon are still looking for long-term consistency and have two wins and two draws.

Both sides were involved in Europa League action midweek, so fatigue will be a factor, but we can still expect an attractive clash. All recent encounters were incredible, with nine of the last 10 featuring more than three goals.

In fact, 8/10 featured a minimum of four goals, so the standard between them has been set very high. I believe we can go for both Over 2.5 goals and BTTS with equal confidence here.

Lyon vs. Rennes top betting tip: Over 2.5 goals, BTTS

Toulouse vs. Le Havre (7:45pm)

Toulouse and Le Havre have made an equally bad start and sit level on points in the relegation zone.

The tiny difference is that the visitors have made a better impression with their defensive play, while Toulouse look just as vulnerable behind as last season. And based on what we’ve seen so far, it is extremely difficult to expect anything from this fixture.

My best advice would be to skip it entirely, but if I have to select a pick at all costs, I would definitely go for a draw. The same fixture last season finished level at 0-0.

Toulouse vs. Le Havre top betting tip: Draw
