Tuesday’s Top Tips: Warnock Faces Tasty Starter in Scotland

After a remarkable total of 1,626 matches as manager in English football, Neil Warnock makes his bow in the Scottish game at Ibrox tonight.

The 75-year-old has stepped in to fill the vacancy at Aberdeen following the departure of Barry Robson last week. It couldn’t get much tougher for Warnock, who’s side are 10/1 to take the three points back up north.

Rangers have been pretty relentless under Phillipe Clement, their only defeat coming against Celtic at the end of December but it’s the Hoops who have stumbled lately and a win for the Gers would draw them level on points at the top of the table. The Warnock factor makes Aberdeen a little less predictable, especially after they held Celtic to a 1-1 draw on Saturday. The Dons won on their last visit to Ibrox and took seven points from their four league matches against Rangers in 2023.

Referee Don Robertson is in charge of the fixture for the third time in his career. He sent-off Aberdeen’s Andrew Considine in his first meeting and more recently booked 10 players in December's League Cup final.

Promotion chasing Coventry and Southampton should get the job done at the second attempt in the FA Cup.

They’re at home to fellow Championship sides, Sheffield Wednesday and Watford following 1-1 draws first time around.

They’re both priced at 8/15 to win which makes for a 135/100 Double.

South Korea are short-priced favourites at 1/4 (8/15 to win in 90 minutes) to reach the final of the AFC Asian Cup this afternoon (3pm KO). 

Jordan stand in their way having beaten Iraq – thanks to goals in the 95th and 97th minutes – and Tajikistan – via an own goal – en route to the semi-finals.

Late goals have also been a feature of South Korea’s run to the final four too. They’ve scored a goal after the 90 minute mark in four of their five matches at the tournament including an injury time equaliser when both these nations met in the group stages.

There’s been plenty of added in time in some of the matches in the tournament so with goal line is set at 74.59 a late goal looks worth a punt at 5/6.
